Staci Newsom taking job in Owen CO, KY

Today, Thursday, July 31, 2008, is Staci Newsom's s last day here at the Adair County Cooperative Extension Service.

Staci has worked in our office the last two summers and has volunteered many hours with our 4-H program.

We would like to thank Staci for everything and wish her the best with her future. Staci starts a new job on August 18, 2008, were she will be serving as the 4-H Agent in Owen County, KY.

We know she will make a great agent and wish her the best.

Sumner Campus Ministry Center expansion is taking shape

New space will allow worship services three times a week. 4,000 ft. expansion will be completed in 2008-09 school year

The addition to Lindsey Wilson Colleges Sumner Campus Ministry Center began to take shape this week. On Wednesday afternoon, employees of American Poured Walls poured concrete to form the additions stem walls.

POLICE REPORTS

Occurs at Greenhills RD, KY 206 intersectionThe Columbia Police Department investigated an injury accident at 06:37amCT, this morning, Thursday, July 31, 2008, at the intersection of Fairground ST and Green Hills RD.

According to Columbia City Police, Kimberly Fugate, 28, Jamestown, KY, operating a 2001 Oldsmobile was attempting to turn from Green Hills Road onto Fairground Street and pulled into the path of 1955 Chevy pickup operated by Kevin Burton, 20, Columbia, KY.

Lindsey Family will sing at Sparksville Baptist on August 10, 2008

The Lindsey Family will be singing Bluegrass Gospel Music at the Sparksville Baptist Church on Sunday, August 10, 2008, at 6:00pm. "It is amazing to see such a talented family," writes Wanda Kerns. "Each member of the group, down to the youngest child, is truly blessed." Bro. Darrell Landis, pastor, and the entire congregation invite everyone to attend. Directions: Take KY 61 south from Columbia, KY approximately 11 miles. Church is past the old Sparksville School on the right (west) side of the highway.

Gas Price Drumbeat: Prices coming down in Louisville

I was in Louisville yesterday and gas in several places was 3.71 a gallon I paid 3.81 for middle grade. Just thought I would let you know its coming down. Thanks

ACRD tractor, boom mower totaled in fire at Breeding

Breeding Area Volunteer Fire Department resonds quickly. Fire delays county's efforts to get roadsways cleared by start of school, but Ann says she's thankful no one hurt, thankful for BAVFD, and so thankful the Adair County Road Department employee escaped incident uninjured. Equipment was insured. Road was reopened at 5:45pm Wednesday, July 31, 2008

Traffic was blocked on Chestnut Grove Road between Breeding and Nell for over three hours on Wednesday, July 30, 2008, following an equipment fire which totaled the Adair County Road Department's tractor and boom mower. The operator, Phillip Carter, was unhurt.

Firemen and ACRD personel believe the fire was the result of a wiring problem.

Adair County Judge Executive Ann Melton visited the scene. "It's was a terrible thing to happen at this season," she said. "We were pushing to get all the County Roads in as safe a condition as possible before school starts next week.
