Salvation Army raising funds for Monroe tornado victims EVENTS The Metcalfe County Service Unit of the Salvation Army will be conducting a Kettle Drive on Saturday, March 1, 2008, at Edmonton Cee Bee Food Store and Dollar General Market. One hundred per cent of the donation will be given to victims of the recent tornado that struck Monroe County. The Monroe County Disaster Agency will assist in finding the neediest families. Volunteers are needed to "ring the bell'. Doughboy War Memorial at Jamestown destroyed By Sgt. Columbia Utilities Commission to hold regular meeting at 11:30am today The Columbia Utiilities Commission will hold a regular session this morning, Wednesday, February 20, 2008 at 11:30amCT, at the Columbia Utilities Board conference room in City Hall, Campbellsville ST, Columbia, KY. The meeting is the first the commission has held since the controversial Monday morning meeting, February 18, 2008, at 10:00am at which time General Manager Jim Williams was fired and Chairman Robert Flowers announced his resignation. The resignation was delivered on Monday, February 18, 2008, Mr. Flowers said, and he will not be at the meeting. The board had been operating with only four members since Mayor Pat Bell told Dr. Ronald Rogers, in October 2007, that he would not be re-appointed. Now it is down to three members. Adair boys play Hart County in last game of season Adair County's highly rated basketball team had an off night at Bardstown last night, Tuesday, February 19, 2008, losing to the host team, 44-57. Even with the loss, Coach Mark Fudge's outstanding team has a 23-5 won-loss record for the season. The team has one more game in the regular season play, at Hart County, Friday evening, February 22, 2008, before going into district play against Campbellsville High School on February 27, 2008, at 7:30pm. Casey student learns about basketball as LWC student assistant By Duane Bonifer, LWC Public Affairs Director Derek Murphy has been one of the best seats at Lindsey Wilson College women's basketball games. Murphy, a Lindsey Wilson freshman, is a student assistant this season for the Blue Raiders. In addition to having a courtside seat for every game, Murphy assists LWC coach John B. Wethington on everything from team laundry to helping with individual workouts.
