Columbia Utilities Commission to hold regular meeting at 11:30am today The Columbia Utiilities Commission will hold a regular session this morning, Wednesday, February 20, 2008 at 11:30amCT, at the Columbia Utilities Board conference room in City Hall, Campbellsville ST, Columbia, KY. The meeting is the first the commission has held since the controversial Monday morning meeting, February 18, 2008, at 10:00am at which time General Manager Jim Williams was fired and Chairman Robert Flowers announced his resignation. The resignation was delivered on Monday, February 18, 2008, Mr. Flowers said, and he will not be at the meeting. The board had been operating with only four members since Mayor Pat Bell told Dr. Ronald Rogers, in October 2007, that he would not be re-appointed. Now it is down to three members. Since that time, Mayor Bell has not appointed a replacement for Dr. Rogers and the board has operated with only four members. The composition facilitated the firing, when the board was split, 2-2 on the matter of dismissing General Manager. The vote was 2-1, however, because but Chairman Flowers was unable to cast a vote. He would have been able to do so only in the case of a tie. Robert Flowers said that he will make a decision after tomorrow about whether or not to stay on as a member of the Adair County Water Plant Board. This story was posted on 2008-02-20 08:48:28
