Adair Countians can advise Gov. Fletcher on spending surplus $$$

Governor Ernie Fletcher is conducting an online survey, "Your Money, Your Priorities," as a means of getting opinions from all Kentuckians on the best use of the state's 2006 surplus funds.

ColumbiaMagazine.com would like to suggest Contact Governor Fletcher now to help speed up the Eastern Bypass for Columbia, or $12 million for a badly needed new school to replace Colonel William Casey and John Adair, or other choice.

Another new baby! Candice and Todd Robertson of Columbia are the proud new parents of a beautiful girl, Annabelle Jane Robertson, born December 15th at TJ Samson Hospital, 7:36am CT. Annabelle weighs 7lbs., 11 oz. and is 20 inches long. Abagail Robertson, on left, is holding cousin Benjamin Kingrey. Riley Robertson is holding new sister, Anabelle, on right. The picture was taken at home December 21, 2006 by the happy grandmother, Vicky Compton.

Obituary: Mary Corbin, 63, of Baptist faith

Mrs. Corbin was employed at Oshkosh B'Gosh for many years. She leave a large family

Mary Corbin, 63, 174 Corbin RD, Columbia, KY, died Wednesday, December 20, 2006, at 8:35pm, at the Kindred Hospital in Louisville, KY, after an illness.

The funeral service will be Saturday, December 23, 2006, at 11:00am CT, at Grissom Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville ST, Columbia, KY with Bro. Lonnie Karnes and Bro. Jessie Hagan officiating.

Surplus School sales nearly complete now: Just Shepherd to go

Sparksville and Knifleyhave brought in $151,000, $1,000 over the budgeted amount. Shepherd has reached $50,000, with bidding continuing until January 13, 2007
Board holds regular session tonight, Thurs., Dec. 21, 2006, at 7:00pm. Agenda

The Adair County Board of Education has completed the sale of two of the three surplus county elementary schools. Already, the return from the two completed sales has been $1,000 over the budgeted $150,000 for all three.

The board is selling the third school online, and bidding continues through January 13, 2006.

House Upon a Rock 18th anniversary service Jan. 7, 2007

Elder Charles Johnson, Brother James Clayton and Bishop Paul Hardin will preach

The House Upon A Rock Tabernacle (Hwy 55 & 1058, Jamestown) will be having the church's 18th Anniversary Service on Sunday, January 7, 2007, at 6:00pm CT.

The Campbellsville Church of God of America will be there with Elder Charles Johnson, Brother James Clayton and Bishop Paul Hardin preaching the evening message.

Obituary: Former Praise AoG Pastor Lacy Troxler dies in NC

The Rev. Lacy C. "Butch" Troxler, Jr, 54, 711 South Broad Street, Burlington, NC, died Tuesday, December 19, 2006, at the Duke University Medical Center, Durham, NC.

The funeral will be conducted at the Burlington Assembly of God on Saturday, December 23, 2006, at 11:00am by Rev. Michael Brown, with burial to follow in Pine Hill Cemetery.

P&Z hearing on Holladay Place, S. KY 61 re- zoning Jan. 9, 2007

The Columbia Planning & Zoning Commission will hold a public hearing Tuesday evening, January 9, 2007 at 6:00pm. The hearing relates to rezoning of land requested to be annexed. The land is bounded by Petty's Fork Creek, the Louie B Nunn Cumberland PKWY, and KY 61. Property owners who have sent letters requesting the annexation include Dr. Ben Arnold, Danny and Sandy Pyles; Don Franklin, Eddie Franklin, Richard Lee Walker, and Marshall Loy; Holladay Place c/o Eddie Franklin, Newcomb Oil Co., James C. Lieutenant Jason Upchurch is KAVFD Firefighter of the Year

Darrell Daker, Gayla Baker, and Kenneth Humphress honored. Officers for 2007-2009 announced

Lieutenant Jason Upchurch has been awarded Knifley Area Volunteer Fire Department Firefighter of the Year. The honor was given for his dedication to the department as well as the community.

The award presentation, recognition of 20 years of service to three members, and the announcement of officers for the coming two years were made at the Knifley Area Volunteer Fire Department annual Christmas dinner and awards banquet December 19, 2006, held at the KAVFD building.

Darrell Daker, Gayla Baker, and Kenneth Humphress were awarded (20) twenty years of service and dedication awards.
