Obituary: Former Praise AoG Pastor Lacy Troxler dies in NC

The Rev. Lacy C. "Butch" Troxler, Jr, 54, 711 South Broad Street, Burlington, NC, died Tuesday, December 19, 2006, at the Duke University Medical Center, Durham, NC.

The funeral will be conducted at the Burlington Assembly of God on Saturday, December 23, 2006, at 11:00am by Rev. Michael Brown, with burial to follow in Pine Hill Cemetery.



Rev. Troxler was pastor at one time of the Praise Assembly of God Church, Jamestown ST, Columbia, KY.

He was a native of Alamance County, NC, and the husband of Rhonda M. Troxler, who surves.

He was the son of late Lacy Carroll Troxler, Sr, and Claudia Clapp Troxler.

Rev. Troxler was a graduate of the University of North Carolina at chapel Hill and a graduate of the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary, Springfield, MO.

While in seminary, Rev. Troxler received his Masters of Divinity and a Master of Arts in Biblical Literature. After pastoring in Kentucky, he returned to Burlington, NC in 1995. At the time of his death, he was the Associate Pastor of the Burling Assembly of God and was involved in all ministries of the church. He was a member of the NC District of the Assemblies of God.

In addition to his wife, survivors include:
  • One sister: Lois Troxler, Burlington, NC

  • Two brothers: Garland Troxler and wife Becky, Altamahaw, NC; and Melvin Troxler and wife, Kay, Burlington, NC
He was preceded in death by his uncle and aunt, George and Margaret Walton, who raised Butch since infancy; two brothers, and three half brothers.

The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Mortuary in Burlington, NC, on Friday, December 22, 2006, from 5:00pm to 8:00pm and at other times they will be at the residence.
