Chinese instruments to be featured in CU program

The strains of the er-hu will soon be driftingover the campus of Campbellsville University. The er-hu is just one of several traditional Chinese instruments thatwill be featured at a Monday, Oct. 2 at 8 p.m. at The Gheens RecitalHall in the Gosser Fine Arts Center.

CU string chamber ensemble invited to perform at KMEA

The Campbellsville University School of MusicUniversity String Chamber Ensemble has received its first invitation toperform at the Kentucky Music Educators Association (KMEA) In-ServiceConference in February 2007. According to Dr. J. Robert Gaddis, directorof the ensemble who is dean of the School of Music, said the process forthe selection of ensembles to perform at the conference is a "blind"audition where the ensembles submit unlabeled, but coded recordings to apanel of evaluators.

Driver loses control, strikes embankment, overturns

A one-vehicle injury accident at 2:30pm ET, this afternoon, Thursday, September 28, 2006, resulted in the driver, Donna Montgomery, 27, being treated and released at Springview Hospital in Lebanon, KY.

Thelma Giles, 69, of T.P. Cundiff RD, Columbia, KY, died Wednesday, September 27, 2006, at the Norton Audubon Hospital in Louisville, KY.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, September 30, 2006, at 2:00pm, CT at Brookside Cemetery, in Campbellsville with Bro. Troy Grider officiating. Visitation is after 11:00am, CT, Saturday, at Grissom Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville ST, Columbia, KY.

Rebecca Grant says Green County has same scenario, re: fuel prices
Billy Joe, the answer we used to get years ago when that was occurring was and probably still is the same answer you will receive from suppliers now is that it costs more to deliver to Columbia. Now if you believe that, I have some swamp land in Arizonia I would like to sell...the same scenario occurs here in Green County and we have yet to be given an explanation .So I am looking forward to hearing an answer from the powers that be to your question.-Rebecca Grant

Rex Coffey murder case: Bond hearing Friday for Grant

Commonwealth opposes defense request to lower $250,000 cash bond set for the man accused in the murder of Rex Coffey, who died as result of church ground shooting
A request filed by Robert Bertram, Jamestown attorney, on behalf of Wellie Paul Grant, is scheduled for 9:00am CT, tomorrow.

Bertram filed the request September 26, 2006.

There are no cases scheduled today in Adair Circuit Court, according to the Kentucky Court of Justice website but there are several important events to check out.>
  1. The last report on Laretta Darling's walk to Campbellsville is that she had passed Bossman's Ice Cream Store, beyond Green River in Taylor County at about 8:30am.
  2. There will be a Friends of the Library meeting at 4:30pm.
  3. CERT training at the Adair County Annex starts at 6:00pm
