LETTER: B.J. Fudge wonders about fuel prices in Columbia Ed and Linda, I know from the bottom of my being that there is a rational explanation. I do not know all the physics of the distribution process. There are many more facets of business which I do not know than I do know. A logical presumption would be that there must be an elevated cost of doing business here in our County. Perhaps there is some local tax of which I am not aware. I wonder; could it be that some other commodity is priced to make things balance? There simply has to be something Im missing. I am guilty of not reading our local papers and listening to our local radio stations as often as some, so therefore I may have missed the answer. I am frustrated and at a loss to explain this daily anomaly that has been in existence for months. Ive spoken with many hundreds of consumers and their innuendo, suspicions, implications, and insinuations alarm me. I am seeking answers to a question; one which is troubling our entire community. This answer must be brought to the light of public knowledge to restore public confidence. Perhaps this is an issue the candidates for public office might want to address, since it is most probably the single most discussed issue second only to the weather. Without further ado or beaten round the bush: why is gasoline consistently cheaper in most surrounding counties and especially in Russell County where it is $0.15 per gallon less today(Wednesday) and has been as much as $0.20 per gallon less much of the last two weeks?
