Carol Perkins: Taps on their shoes Previous Column: Just Like That By Carol Perkins I don't often look through old yearbooks, but when I do, I focus on the clothes and hairstyles of each year. During the 50s and 60s I don't remember men concerned about what they wore or fashion trends except for a few things. In order to be like James Dean, some of the guys started wearing white tee-shirt and rolled up the sleeves. Tucked inside one sleeve might be a pack of Camels. His jeans would likely be straight and tight, and he might have taps on his boots/shoes. Not taps like on tap dancing shoes, but smaller ones that went on the toes or the heels. The sound of those taps down the hallway at the Old Edmonton High School meant a "bad boy" was in the area. Not that any were bad, but they wanted to give off that vibe. LWC Track and Field Indoor NAIA Natl Championship qualifiers By Christopher Coombs The official final rosters and entry lists for all qualifiers for the 2022 Men and Women's NAIA Indoor Track and Field National Championship have been determined, national officials announced on Friday morning. Three members of the men's team in Austin Campbell, Jelle Golbach, and Jaylun Wallace will compete as four members of the women's team will take part in the event in Jozlen Brisbon, Henriette Hawlas, Meredith Johnson, and Luna Senica. Republican party meeting: poll workers still needed By Veronica Arnold The local chapter of the Republican party met Thursday evening in the basement of the Annex building. Among many topics discussed was the need for poll workers for upcoming elections. It was made clear that anyone of legal age to vote, regardless of political affiliation, is asked to please volunteer for polling places. Everyone coming together to help make voting in our local elections possible and more accessible for all Adair county! We were told the deadline to sign up is coming soon, mid March! Clay Hill Memorial Forest receives maple tree donation By Gerard Flanagan Campbellsville, KY - Campbellsville University's Clay Hall Memorial Forest has received the donation of a maple tree to honor those impacted by the tornado that hit Taylor County on December 11, 2021. The Taylor County Cattleman's Association donated the maple tree to Clay Hill Memorial Forest recently. "Clay Hill Memorial Forest gladly accepted what promises to be a beautiful commemorative maple tree honoring those affected by the December 11 tornado in Taylor County," Jonathan Moore, director of Clay Hill Memorial Forest and assistant professor of biology at Campbellsville University, said. "The tree will be planted in a prominent place near our education center. "The tree will commemorate the disaster experience by many in our community from the tornado on December 11 and will serve as an illustration of the regeneration and regrowth of our community."
