Nancy Vincent Hughes, 83, Cumberland Co., KY native (1939-2022) Nancy Vincent Hughes of Louisville passed away on Thursday, February 24, 2022, surrounded by people who loved her, after fighting a courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease. She was 83 years old. Graveside services will be held at NoonCT on Saturday, February 26, 2022, at Bearwallow Cemetery, 6080 Liberty Rd., Columbia, KY. She was born in Cumberland, Kentucky on January 31, 1939 to the late Fred and Sally Thurman Vincent. Nancy attended Adair High School and Bellarmine University. She moved to Louisville where she remained the rest of her life. She retired from the Jefferson County Board of Education. Nancy was a spirited, determined woman who was possibly ahead of her time. She could sing and dance. She was a beautiful artist and enjoyed gardening. Nancy was unpredictable and unafraid. She changed her own oil and worked on her own car. This did not always prove to be a good idea. The simple pleasure of taking long walks brought her joy. Never shy to stand up for her beliefs, she was an advocate for the underdog. She volunteered at Maryhurst for many years. Nancy loved animals and was seemingly incapable of turning away cats. Some of her happiest times were spent with dear friends from her neighborhood and Southeast Christian Church. She loved her family and adored her grandchildren. Nancy is survived by her children, Keith (Deb) Hughes, and Amie (Mark) Delworth; grandchildren Chris (Amanda) Hughes, Steven Hughes, David Delworth, Joseph Delworth, and William Delworth; great grandchildren, Madison, Owen, and Penelope; her siblings Betty Shepard, Jim Vincent, Linda Jesse, Gary Vincent, and Connie Bannick. Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences at stottsphelpsmcquearyfh.com This story was posted on 2022-02-25 12:42:26
