TCHS Academic Team is District Governor’s Cup Champions

On Saturday, January 25, 2020, the Taylor County High School Academic Team competed in and was awarded 2020 District Governor’s Cup Overall Champions.

In addition, the Quick Recall team, consisting of Andrew Melton (senior), Joseph Cox (senior), Morgan Melton (junior), Lily Robertson (sophomore), Colby Reynolds (junior), Emma Maynard (junior), John Willis (senior), and Josh Gaddis (sophomore), placed first.

City Schools in Campbellsville closing 3 and 4 Feb, 2020

Because of an increased number of sick students and staff members, school will be canceled for Campbellsville Independent Schools on Monday, February 3, and Tuesday, February 4, 2020.

School will resume Wednesday, February 5.

Tuesday, February 4, will be a teacher work day.

Any changes to the school calendar will be announced as they are approved.

Kenneth Leibee, 74, Campbellsville, KY (1945-2020)

Kenneth Leibee of Campbellsville passed away on Saturday, February 1, 2020. He was 74 years old.

The funeral service will be held at 1pmET on Monday, February 3, 2020 at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home, 418 Lebanon Ave., Campbellsville, KY, officiated by Rev. Donnie Blick and Rev. Jimmy York. Burial will follow in Mt. Washington Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation is requested from 5pmET until 8pmET on Sunday.

LWC Men's Basketball defeats Life 85-77 in MSC play

(RV) Lindsey Wilson men's basketball picked up an 85-77 Mid-South Conference victory over Life (GA) 85-77 Saturday at Biggers Sports Center.

Reece Brooks led the way for the Blue Raiders (16-8, 5-5 MSC) matching his career-high in points with 28. Kel Stotts was in double figures with 18 points and Kameron Mack had 10. Malik Hart scored nine points and had a game-high seven assists.

The Blue Raiders shots 51.9 percent from the field as the Running Eagles (10-13, 1-9 MSC) shot 52.9 percent. Lindsey Wilson held a slight 28-25 edge in rebounds and went 15-of-15 from the free throw line.

LWC Women's Basketball defeats Life 87-68 Saturday

The No. 14 ranked Lindsey Wilson women's basketball team defeated Life (Ga.) 87-68 in a Mid-South Conference matchup on Saturday at Biggers Sport Center.

Reagan Turner led the way for the Blue Raiders (19-4, 8-2 MSC) with her second double-double of the season scoring a game high 18 points and grabbing a game-high 11 rebounds. DeAsia Outlaw had 17 points, Jynea Harris scored 14 and Natalie Pierce who scored a career-high 12.

Vernie Alice Brewer English, 81, Greensburg, KY (1938-2020)

Vernie Alice Brewer English of Greensburg passed away on Friday, January 31, 2020. She was 81 years old.

The funeral services for Vernie Alice Brewer English will be conducted at 10amCT on Wednesday, February, 5, 2020, at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, 206 S. Main St., Greensburg, KY, with Bro. Dale Curry officiating. Burial will follow in the Campbellsville Memorial Gardens.

Visitation is requested from 4pmCT until 8pmCT on Tuesday at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home and after 7amCT on Wednesday until the time of the funeral service.

Mr. Charles Thomas "Tom" Milby of Campbellsville passed away on Wednesday, January 29, 2020. He was 77 years old.

Pass the keys to a sober driver before the party begins

Frankfort, KY - Football fans across the country are gearing up to celebrate America's most-watched sporting event, Super Bowl LIV, on Sunday, February 2, 2020.

For many, the Super Bowl celebration will include drinking alcohol, so the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet's (KYTC) Office of Highway Safety is teaming with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration for a Fans Don't Let Fans Drive Drunk reminder urging football fans to call the right play by passing the keys to a sober driver.

"We want everyone to have a good time watching and celebrating the Super Bowl," said KYTC Secretary Jim Gray. "All we ask is that if you plan on drinking alcohol, make the right choice and plan for a designated driver before the party begins."

CU to present 45 Plays for 45 Presidents

Campbellsville, KY -. - The Campbellsville University Theater Department is set to perform "45 Plays for 45 Presidents," presented by Community Trust Bank and Town Hall Productions. The play will be performed in the Russ Mobley Theater of the Alumni Building at 114 University Drive, Campbellsville, KY.

Performances are scheduled for:
  • Thursday, February 20, 2020, at 7pmET
  • Friday, February 21, 2020, at 7pmET
  • Saturday, February 22, 2020, at 7pmET
  • Sunday, February 23, 2020, at 2:30pmET
"45 Plays for 45 Presidents" is a "hilarious romp through the American presidency" by Karen Weinberg, Chloe Johnston, Genevra Gallo-Bayiates, Sean Benjamin and Andy Bayiates. It is produced by special arrangement with Playscripts Inc.

Tickets are available by visiting www.townhallpro.com/theater-film or calling (270) 789-5266. General admission is $10; seniors, 65 and older, and children, 12 and under, are $7; Campbellsville University employees are $7; and CU students are free with their CU ID.

CPD: Walker Street accident leads to DUI arrest

On Friday, January 31, 2020, Columbia Police Department officers were dispatched along with Adair EMS to a potential injury accident on Walker Street just after 10pmCT.

A Pontiac G6 had flipped upside down after making impact with a parked Ford pickup.

The driver of the Pontiac was located outside a residence and was observed to be intoxicated.

Adkins earns 400th career win at LWC

Lindsey Wilson men's basketball coach Keith Adkins won his 400th career game as a head coach on Thursday night as the Blue Raiders defeated visiting Cumberland (TN) 67-60 at Biggers Sports Center.

Adkins boasts a 400-250 record over his 20 seasons prowling the sidelines for three different institutions -- Campbellsville (Ky.), Life (Ga.), and Lindsey Wilson. He owns 11 20-win seasons during his career, reaching the NAIA National Tournament 10 times.

Of his 10 national tournament runs, Adkins has reached the NAIA Fab Four three times while his 2016-17 Life squad finished national runner-up.
