LWC Football defeats Cincinnati Christian 73-0 on Homecoming

The No. 7-ranked Lindsey Wilson football team defeated Cincinnati Christian (Ohio) on Homecoming during their 2018 Mid-South Conference Bluegrass Division home opener. The Blue Raider defense produced the program's second ever shutout during the game, the first coming against Cincinnati Christian during the 2016 campaign.

The Blue Raider offense was firing on all cylinders as they produced 538-yards of total offense with 221-yards coming on the ground and 317 coming via the air. The Lindsey Wilson defense held the Eagles to just 165 yards, limiting CCU to just 35 rushing yards and 130 yards through the air. The defense combined for two interceptions, one fumble recovery as well as one blocked punt and one blocked field goal.

Silent City 2018: The history behind Timoleon Cravens

Timoleon "Tim" Cravens was born in 1823 in Adair County, was a renowned attorney before the bar in Adair County as well as in the south central region of Kentucky, and a stalwart of the old Democrat party, championed by Andrew Jackson. With fine oratorical skills, he was often called upon to speak on behalf of local, district and statewide candidates seeking votes on the campaign trail.

Terry Willis, 67, Flatwoods, KY (1951-2018)

Terry Willis was a member of Church of the Harvest, loved the Lord with all of his heart, loved going to church and was a hunter. He worked in the oil field all of his life.

The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2018 at 10:00 AM at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg St., Columbia, KY. Bro. Patrick Willis & Bro. Kyle Riddle will officiate. Interment will follow in Weed Cemetery at Gradyville, KY.

LWC Archery Opens Inaugural Season at 3-D Championships

The Lindsey Wilson archery team is set to begin their inaugural season at the 3-D Regional Championship in Barbourville, Ky. on Saturday and the Mid-South Conference 3-D Championship in Williamsburg, Ky. on Sunday.

Lindsey Wilson will compete in one of three disciplines that spans over the course of the year. The first discipline is 3-D which is an outdoor discipline where archers shoot at foam animals that are spread out on a course. The archers will be grouped into fours and will shoot at each target and will be scored on how accurately they can hit the target.

Raymond Brown, 76, of the Romines Community in Taylor County, KY, (formerly of the Weed Community in Adair County) passed away Saturday, October 6, 2018 at 3:24amCT at his home after several months illness.

The funeral service will be held on Monday, October 8, 2018, at 1pmCT at the Prices Creek Baptist Church, Prices Creek Road, Edmonton, KY, with Bro. Danny Dickson and Bro. Larry Brown officiating. Interment will follow in the Moore Cemetery.

LWC Football hosts Cincinnati Christian on Saturday

The No. 7-ranked Lindsey Wilson football hosts Mid-South Conference competitor Cincinnati Christian (Ohio) on Saturday at 2:30pmCT at Blue Raider Stadium, 928 Russell Road, Columbia, KY, for the 2018 Homecoming game.

The Blue Raiders (3-1) returns home after traveling to South Carolina last Thursday to face against Presbyterian. Last weeks matchup marked the first time that the Blue Raiders have faced an NCAA Division I FCS member. LWC fought hard against Presbyterian but were ultimately defeated 10-0 in a defensive battle.

LWC swimming hosts Cumberlands on Saturday

Lindsey Wilson men and women's swimming team hosts Mid-South Conference member Cumberlands (Ky.) at 11amCT on Saturday, October 6, at the Holloway Center Natatorium in the Holloway Health & Wellness Center, 399 Williams St., Columbia, KY.

Lindsey Wilson women's swimming team is coming off a first place finish at LWC Fall Frenzy on September 28-29. The women received a total of 13 A-cut standards at the meet.
