LWC Archery Opens Inaugural Season at 3-D Championships By Clayton Barefield The Lindsey Wilson archery team is set to begin their inaugural season at the 3-D Regional Championship in Barbourville, Ky. on Saturday and the Mid-South Conference 3-D Championship in Williamsburg, Ky. on Sunday. Lindsey Wilson will compete in one of three disciplines that spans over the course of the year. The first discipline is 3-D which is an outdoor discipline where archers shoot at foam animals that are spread out on a course. The archers will be grouped into fours and will shoot at each target and will be scored on how accurately they can hit the target. The other two disciplines are indoor and outdoor disciplines which are set for later this year. The regional championship on Saturday will consist of 11 teams from the area and includes all eight of the conference members participating in Sunday's event. The teams that will participate in the MSC this year are Bethel (Tenn.), Campbellsville (Ky.), Georgetown (Ky.), Kentucky Christian, Shawnee State (Ohio), Pikeville (Ky.), Union (Ky.) and Cumberlands (Ky.). Coach Mike Willis is excited for the opportunity for the team to get experience at the regional level and will be able to get a good idea of the competition at the conference championship on Sunday. The Blue Raiders have 19 student-athletes on the squad composed of 17 freshman and only two sophomores. Although the team is very young, they are excited to build a solid foundation for the future of this program. This story was posted on 2018-10-06 11:24:09
