Walter Eugene (Gene) Hoots, Adair Co./Cumberland Co. native As much as any other person in Adair County, he epitomized living a life of service to the community. He was a World War II Veteran who was named to the Veterans Hall of Fame in KY for his military service and community involvement, he was an original member and former president of the Columbia/Adair County Fire Department and he helped initiate the Adair County Rescue Squad. He was an electrical contractor in this region for 50 years, known for his reputable business practices and expertise. He was known for his quick wit and opinions on politics and community events.
