Drug Court helping people come back to normal life, contribution Statistics show Drug Court has helped many people have their lives restored to sobriety, allowing them to be contributors to their families and communities again, and babies to be born drug-free. By Linda Waggener Circuit Court Judge of Adair and Casey Counties, Judy Vance Murphy, spoke to members of the Columbia Rotary Club Monday evening, February 26, 2018, about the ongoing success of Drug Court. She told the group, from what she is experiencing, Meth is by far the biggest problem for these two counties and if one person can be freed from addiction and a life of crime to support it, the Drug Court is well worth the work. She presented statistics showing many people have had their lives restored to sobriety, allowing them to be contributors to their families and communities again, and of babies being born drug-free. Stories below expand on the success of Drug Court for one who shared her personal experience, and from the Columbia Police Department recent community forums: Link to related stories: Misty May, Addiction -- how it began for a fourteen year old girl, part I; and Part II of Misty's story Addicted, out of control, arrested.
