Harry Mack proposes church contest, KY 210 v KY 80

Harry Mack writes:
Maybe we can have a contest. Route 210 between Campbellsville and Hogenville has a church sign on almost every side road. Most, if not all of them, are for Baptist churches. When I first moved here from out of state, I noticed the signs and didn't realize that there were so many types of Baptist churches and they are all here in Central Kentucky. - Harry Mack

Sad word of the death of Sports Writer Bobby Brockman

By Ricky Bault

I am awfully saddened by the word of the passing of Central Kentucky sports reporting legend, Bobby Brockman.

Bobby and I stood side by side at many 20th District and 5th Region ball games. Bobby, who covered Taylor County and Campbellsville, while I reported and cheered for the Adair County Indians, was a true professional in every sense of the word.

I don’t know anyone who knew more about sports in our area than Bobby. He’ll be missed in Campbellsville and Taylor County and the 5th Region. -- RB

Writer suggests Welcome signs on all main Columbia entrances

James Roberts writes:
I think that we need "Welcome to Columbia " signs on all of our main roads leading into Columbia. We have some of the best carpenters, painters & art students at both the high school & Lindsey Wilson College that there are. A lot of these students need so many hours of community hours for either a club or classroom. Let them build, paint & maintain the signs for all to see. It would give them the hours that they need & project a nice image for visitors coming into our town. You could get the landowners' permission to build them & permits from the state if needed. Just my opinion. - James Roberts

Miss Victoria Browning-Pike: Greater Bliss Historical Moment

Her first ride was a Farmall. Later, she graduated to a Charles Giles Massey-Ferguson. Charles Marshburn: Fish?

About: Ralph Waggener: Hwy. 80 between Columbia and R Springs

Charles Marshburn asks:
Where does Ralph Roy Waggener eat fish in Russell Springs? - Charles Marshburn
We ask him: Could be LJS. Could be at Eli 1 or Eli 2. Could be at Jax's. Could be in the Central District in Downtown Esto, a suburb of Montpelier, Adair County, KY. Could be he's like folks from all over the Eastern United States, who can not get within 50 miles of Russell Springs and not got to Coe's Steak House. As I said, we'll ask him. Do know he has great stories of eating at Coe's. - EW

Writer asks, could sign in question be on state right of way?

Sign in question: Comments on the sign on the Greensburg entrance into Columbia, and questions about its location, legal or illegal placement?
By Victoria Pike

I agree 100 percent on taking that sign down. Now here is my question? If it is on state right of way, it is illegally placed anyway since signs on state right of way are illegal and can be removed by the state.

Second, if it is on someone’s property, check with the PVA’s office. They have records of who owns property in Adair County.

Third, go ask land owner if you can take it down. I consider any sign illegally placed as part of litter on the highway and it is the duty of concerned citizens to pick it up and remove to the trash.
