My solution to telemarketers is very simple. If the number is not in my contact list and the caller ID does not give a name I don't answer it. When the caller is someone who really wants to get a hold of me they will leave a message on my voice mail. Telemarketers do not leave messages very often. Telephone gives misleading number through 'spoofing' software Greg Jones writes: This is called "spoofing" and is the practice of causing the telephone network to indicate to the receiver of a call that the originator of the call is a station other than the true originating station. They do this through software that I don't care to mention nor will I post instructions on how they do it. I will say it is done through software that allows you to type a command and lets you pick what number the call comes from; this is done on internet phone service (VOIP). There are phone apps, both paid and free, that can sometimes tell you what the real number is and who is calling.Comments re article 93577 Reader asks how telemarketers are faking with local numbers 2017-10-27 04:55:25 | Comments | Printable version
