JIM: Laudatory Critique of Mike Watson piece

JIM: writes:
A great ar-tickle about A.B.C.! I could might nigh hear the crowd roaring approval of Happy's speech, and, of course, his impromptu rendition of "Gold Mine in the Sky." After a bit of digging around, I found this 1937 cut (one of at least three recordings of "Gold Mine" made that year) w/Joe Martin on vocals. (Lyrics begin at about the 0:25 mark.) Without a doubt, Happy sang it better :) 1937 Isham Jones - There's A Gold Mine In The Sky (Joe Martin, vocal)

Anyone who doesn't remember Happy Chandler bringing tears to eyes with "My Old Kentucky Home" or Dizzy Dean belting out "Wasbash Cannonball" during the seventh inning stretch missed some great moments of Americana! - JIM
