BOWLING GREEN, KY (22 May, 2017) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) has authorized the speed limit on a section of U.S. 231 in Allen and Warren Counties to be raised from 55 mph to 65 mph.

The approximate 13 mile section is from near the U.S. 231 Bridge over Drakes Creek at mile point 5.1 in Warren County to just outside Scottsville in Allen County at mile point 0.7. Crews will be placing signs this morning.

The KYTC District 3 office had heard from and worked with local stakeholders, officials and community members about the possibility of raising the speed limit in that area on U.S. 231. According to a recent traffic engineering investigation, a 65 mph speed zone is justified on the route. The increased speed limit will decrease travel time to better serve commuters, industry and the communities located along the route. KYTC Transportation Secretary Greg Thomas recently signed the official order.
