Elden Vance Mason, 81, Sulphur Well, KY (1935-2017)

He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict. He attended Woodbury College in California, majoring in International Trade. Later, he worked for Rose Industries in the Phillipines. On his return to the United States he started several retail businesses, in Gibsonville, NC. He moved to Metcalfe County in 1998 to pursue his dream of farming after retiring from his position as Quality Control Analyst for Engineered Control International in Elon, NC. He attended Center Church of Christ. His wife, Bella Floresca Mason, survives.

She was of the Pentecostal Faith and a long time employee & retired from First & Farmers National Bank. She was a native of Barren County, KY, and a longtime resident of Adair County, KY. She was the daughter of the late Ralph & Lora Hurt Williams. Her husband, Garland D. Skaggs, survives, along with eight step-descendants.

Stotts Construction is low bidder on Fairplay water line

Award of construction work could come as early as Thursday, January 12, 2016. Bids low enough general manager will recommend an 8" line instead of 6". If all goes as expected, the new improvement could be online sometime between May and July 2017, providing adequate water to a fast growing area of Adair County.

KY Transportation Cabinet District 3 snow update

4amCT Friday road condition update. Interstate 65, U.S. routes and most main KY routes have greatly improved since the winter system moved out last night. Spotty coverage and icy spots still exist on these main roadways. KYTC District 3 had prepared for the storm with 20,000 tons of salt, 135 Snowfighters and 62 KYTC Trucks.

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (6 Jan 2017) - Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 3 crews continue to battle icy and snowy road conditions into the early morning hours on Friday.

Crews mobilized and began treating the roadways yesterday evening when a snow & ice event moved through the area leaving hazardous road conditions in its wake. Interstate 65, U.S. routes and most main KY routes have greatly improved since the winter system moved out last night.
