Ben Arnold: Congratulations to Stotts Construction Always great for local business to receive the work. Hopes consideration will be given to running natural gas to the Fairplay area at the same time. Suggests common trench could save money, help poultry farmers lower operating costs Click on headline for complete commentary By Ben Arnold Congratulations to Stotts Construction for being the low bidder on the Fairplay water line. The community needs this and it is always great for local business to receive the work, and Stotts has a reputation for excellent work. It is also great that Lenny Stone and the Board will consider the larger 8-inch line. We all should at these times plan big and for the future and plan for success. Let's make our community better at every opportunity. In this light it would be timely and wise to also consider adding a natural gas line to that community, placed with the same dirt movement. The added cost would mostly be the cost of the gas line and some added efforts in laying it. This would be a great opportunity to expand our gas revenues while helping the community and providing a lower cost energy source for people in the community. Perhaps the new chicken barns could use the gas at cost savings? I ask Lenny Stone to at least ask the Board to consider the added cost and benefits at their next board meeting. - Ben Arnold This story was posted on 2017-01-06 13:12:24
