Adair County moved to 2-0 on the young season Friday night by following last week's 38-28 victory at Taylor County with a lopsided home win against Caverna. This one featured little drama, as the Tribe jumped out to a quick early lead and never looked back, cruising to a 53-6 win.

"I really liked the intensity we came out with," says head coach Clay Stephens. "We were locked in and focused, and I thought we communicated a lot better than we did last week, both offensively and defensively."

Water. Link to NKU's Episode 5 - Toxic Blue-Green Algae

The bad taste of the Columbia/Adair County Utilities District water is continuing this Monday morning - at least at our faucet. The taste problem is caused, we're told, by an algal bloom.
A link to this audio report on algal blooms came in the mail this morning. It's worth a listen for anyone willing to hear this audio clip: NKU's Episode 5 - Toxic Blue-Green Algae, on "Ask NKU," as in Northern Kentucky University.
The link above came from a long-time critic of the Columbia/Adair County Utilities District, who has said he could have no confidence in the District so long as the water he was buying from CAUD was dirty coming through the faucet, and had a bad taste and was undrinkable a big part of the year to boot.

A poem, on birthdays and fatherhood

Ponderings of the poet, W.M. Feese, on the occasion of his birthday

By W. M. Feese, Jr.
I'm fast becoming a relic
Something I wish not to be
Our children now call me their father
Instead of that great word "Daddy"

To refer to me as their father
Seems so inappropriate for me
I'd much rather be back when
Their father was simply daddy

Today I will be seventy-one
An age that used to be old
But now is just a number
In the pages of life that we fold.

Check who's having birthdays today: Birthdays and Anniversaries
