Mr. L.C. Reliford, Green Co., KY; Adair native (1929-2016)

He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Summer Shade United Methodist Church in the Bramlett Community of Green County, KY. He was a retired farmer. He was a member of an outstanding South Central Kentucky family. He was a native of Adair County, KY, the son of the late Ed Lee Reliford and Ruby Coomer Reliford. His wife Infelice Posey Reliford, survives. He leaves one direct living descendant, a son, Donnie Reliford.

Mr. L.C. Reliford departed this life Saturday, May 21, 2016 at the Norton's Hosparus Inpatient Care Center, Louisville, KY.

The funeral services will be at Foster-Toler-Curry Funeral Home, 209 W Court Street, Greensburg, KY, at 1pmCT, Monday, May 23, 2016. Rev. William Davenport and Rev. Travis Keltner will officiate. Visitation will be at 10amCT until funeral time at 1pmCT, Monday, at the funeral home. Interment will be in Summer Shade Cemetery, Bramlett Community of Green County.

Geneva was a member of Bearwallow United Methodist, a seamstress, enjoyed quilting, sewing & working in her flower garden. She was the daughter of the late William Deewey & Iva May Keltner Baker. She leaves 12 direct living descendants.

CU awards nearly $200,000 in scholarships to EIT recipients

A total of 3,390 teachers have been honored since the program's inception. For the 30th annual ceremony Saturday, May 21, 199 teachers are being recognized from 70 school districts.

CAMPBELLSVILLE, KY - In an effort to promote graduate teacher education across the Commonwealth of Kentucky, Campbellsville University has awarded nearly $200,000 in scholarship assistance to the recipients of the 30th annual Excellence in Teaching Award.

The Excellence in Teaching awards program began in 1987 with assistance from Earl Aaron and the Ward, Cundiff and Aaron Memorial fund. The purpose of the program is to recognize the quality teaching and learning taking place in the school systems throughout Kentucky.

Michigan man indicted on human trafficking allegations

'The indictment . . . alleges that Givhan recruited and transported two of the women, knowing and in reckless disregard of the fact that means of force, threats of force, fraud and coercion, would be used to cause them to engage in commercial sex acts.' Kalamazoo, Michigan, man is charged with alleged multiple counts of sex trafficking and interstate transportation for prostitution.
The indictment of a person by a Federal Information is an accusation only and that person is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

WASHINGTON, DC. (Fri 20 May 2016) David Q. Givhan, 34, of Kalamazoo, Michigan, was charged by grand jury indictment, unsealed late yesterday, with multiple counts of sex trafficking and interstate transportation for prostitution, announced Principal Deputy Assistant Attorney General Vanita Gupta, head of the Justice Department's Civil Rights Division and U.S. Attorney John E. Kuhn Jr. of the Western District of Kentucky.

FRANKFORT, KY - For the first time in its four-year history, the Kentucky Arts Council's traveling exhibit "Makings of a Master" will be featured at a Kentucky state park. The exhibit will be on display in the lodge lobby of Pennyrile Forest State Resort Park, 20781 Pennyrile Lodge Road, Dawson Springs, KY, June 1 to August 31, 2016. Access to the exhibit is free. In conjunction with the exhibit, banjo player Sue Massek, a recipient of an arts council Folk and Traditional Arts Apprenticeship Grant, will perform at 7pmCT, Friday, June 24, 2016at the park. The performance is free.

Mrs. M. Cristella (Cricket) Allen, 82, Cumberland County, KY (1934-2016)

She was born May 20, 2016, in Cumberland County, KY and lived most of her adult life in New Castle, IN. She attended Foursquare Church for over 60 years. She loved shopping, canning, and cooking big dinners for her family and friends. Christella also enjoyed the country and all the farm animals. She cherished spending time with her family and friends, always giving them an extra hug and squeeze. Christella was an honored New Castle State Hospital employee for 22 years, as a QMA, she received certification for apprenticeship for mental health technician and behavior modifier. She was also a QMA at Raintree Square and extended her care giving skills by assisting with private duty.

Mrs. Carolyn Franklin Jones, Green County, KY (1942-2016)

She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Little Barren Separate Baptist Church. She was retired Deputy P.V.A from 1977 thru 2002, and a member of the Green County Gideon Camp Auxiliary where she had been past president. She was the daughter of the late Elzie Franklin and Gertie McKinney Franklin and the widow of Robbie H. Jones, her husband of over 52 years. She leaves seven direct living descendants.
