CJE Stephens hears novel idea on paying vote case legal bills

Knifley voter says if county foots the legal costs, county voters should be allowed to vote in a 'countywide mayor's race.'

Judge Michael Lee Stephens is opposed to payment for the Board of Election's outside legal representation, but insists his opposition to paying the bill is simply that he thinks there is no real county standing in the controversy to warrant the expenditures, and that it is not a matter of personalities, of favoring one candidate or another.

He says voters he is polling, especially out in the county, are in agreement, acknowledging that the sampling he is taken quite limited, even to geographic area - specifically the northern end of the county above the river.

James Edward (Ed) Bowling, 79, Cumberland County, Kentucky (d. 01 Jan 2016)

He was was a retired truck driver and a US Navy Veteran, with a love of God, country and family. He was a former resident in Green River Lake area of Adair County, KY, where he lived for approximately 7-8 years before moving back to Louisville. He is well remembered by fellow coffee drinkers at the Columbia Dairy Queen. He will be laid to rest in French-Logan Family Cemetery, in Cumberland County, KY.

Gary L. Stotts, 66, Jeffersonville, IN (d. 29 Dec 2015)

He was a descendant of an outstanding South Adair County, KY, family and leaves many relatives in Adair County. He was the son of the late Wilbert Stotts, and the late Jessaphine Stotts, who preceded him in death just one month, three days prior. He leaves three direct living descendants. He had retired from G.E. after 38 years of working in production. He was a member of the Masonic Clark Lodge #40 and One Community Church. He also volunteered to clean at Clarksville Middle School and Clarksville High School in the summer time.

People were looking for a place to be with others Christmas Day

Some may have wondered why Journey to Recovery held a service on Christmas Day. There was a very good reason for the support group to do so. Many were searching for a place to be with others on the day, and found because JTL was open

She a member of a large, respected, Taylor County, KY family. She was born in Tampa, Florida, and was a resident of Campbellsville, KY at the time of her death. She was the widow of Johnny Ray Newton. She was a former employee of Walmart and Orville's Restaurant. She was of the Baptist faith. She leaves 11 direct living descendants.

To the person driving a late model pickup truck on Bull Run Road who decided it would be Fun to cross over the road and hit our dog in our driveway last Tuesday night at 11:30pm.

This was a member of our family and she has been a constant companion and protector of our grandchildren all their lives.

Kenneth Parker Ewing, Taylor County, KY (1935-2016)

He was an active member of the Campbellsville Christian Church, serving there in many leadership roles. He was a graduate of Bradfordsville High School, Campbellsville College in 1955 and the University of Kentucky College of Agriculture in 1962. Kenneth participated in basketball during high school and while attending Campbellsville College. He also served as the Southern States regional agronomy supervisor at Campbellsville and was chairman of the Youth Education Committee of Kentucky Council of Cooperatives during 1975. He also was a member of the City Council for 9 years. He was an agronomist with Southern States Cooperative for over 41 years. He served in the Army Reserves for six years. His wife of over 56 years, Patricia Adams Ewing, survives. His distinguished descendants carry on the Ewing famly heritage.
