James Edward (Ed) Bowling, 79, Cumberland County, Kentucky (d. 01 Jan 2016)

He was was a retired truck driver and a US Navy Veteran, with a love of God, country and family. He was a former resident in Green River Lake area of Adair County, KY, where he lived for approximately 7-8 years before moving back to Louisville. He is well remembered by fellow coffee drinkers at the Columbia Dairy Queen. He will be laid to rest in French-Logan Family Cemetery, in Cumberland County, KY.

James Edward "Ed" Bowling, age 79 of Louisville, KY, passed away Friday, January 1, 2016.

Visitation will be 12pm-3pmCT/1pm-4pmET, Sunday, January 3, 2016 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 235 Juneau Drive in Middletown, KY with service to follow at 3pmCT/4pmET. Burial will be Monday, January 4, 2016, at 12pmNoonCT/1pmET, at the French-Logan Family Cemetery in Burkesville, Cumberland County, KY. Ballou & Stotts Funeral Home, 304 N Main Street, Burkesville, KY, in charge of local arrangements.


Ed was a retired truck driver and a US Navy Veteran, with a love of God, country and family.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Roberta; his parents, Matthew and Virtle Bowling; amd siblings, Margie, Kenneth and Lois. He is survived by the following:
  • His step-sons: Tim Tallent (Laura) and Martin Tallent (Lisa)

  • Granddaughter: Kayla

  • Siblings: Ellis (Ann), Paul (Lois), Edna Downs and Hank (Marilyn)

  • and a host of relatives and friends
