ACPS Kindergarten Christmas Program

Shamarie Harper
Adair County Schools Media - PR /Technology Resourse Teacher /Migrant Recruiter

Yesterday, was for many of us the best day of the year here at Adair County Schools. It was the Kindergarten Christmas Program, which is always the sweetest, most entertaining group of innocent children in the district. They are always excited and ready to perform.

I went to the school presentation which is always like a dress rehearsal for the students. Plus it is always the largest parent attendance program of the year. And this photographer/writer hates having to get in the way of parents and loved ones trying to see their babies in the spot light.

I have a ton of pictures so keep checking back but here are a few to wet your whistle. And I would be remiss if I did not say way to go Mrs. Marcum as always you put on a wonderfully entertaining program, our district is so very blessed to have you!

Letter: Caucus will force candidates to campaign in Kentucky

Susan K Breeding writes:
The Kentucky Caucus will enable the State of Kentucky to be viable in the selection of the Republican candidate. Kentucky has 45 delegates. Our Primary election is held in May and by this time our voice is not heard. By having a caucus the candidates have to pay attention to the state. Visits by either the candidates or spokesmen will be necessary.

In the past, presidential candidates have bypassed our state. We want to have a voice. In the last few years over 200,000 folks have registered republican to some 20,000 democrats. As Repubicans we should be proud of our growth and will be recognized on a national level. --Susan K. Breeding, Washington County Republican Vice Chairman

KY Afield Outdoors: Outdoor options for the holidays

By Lee McClellan

Frankfort, KY - After the stress, bustle and eventual enjoyment of Christmas passes, many Kentuckians still have several days off from work. After a belly full of bowl games, board games, card games and sweets, boredom and restlessness can set in for outdoors enthusiasts.

Many perceive the closing of modern gun deer season as the ending to hunting and fishing until the arrival of warm winds next spring. However, winter is one of the best times of year to hunt and fish. Time off during the holidays presents a golden opportunity to get outside and enjoy three fantastic outdoors opportunities.

Jon Halsey: GOP should be party of people, not of Rand Paul

Jon Halsey writes:
The time for appealing was back in August and September. However, strenuous efforts had no effect, the "fix" was in.

That is precisely why in late September, after 53 years as a registered Republican, I turned in a change of registration form to the County Clerk. I might add that I began the election season favorably disposed to Rand Paul but I can now think of no scenario in which I would ever vote for him or Mitch McConnell who orchestrated this whole sorry mess which files in the face of the intent of Kentucky law.

I would like to see the Kentucky Republican Party put forth a convincing argument that they are the party of the people and not the party of Rand Paul. I have serious doubts that they could make a convincing case.

Against the caucus method of selecting nominee

Comments re article 79635 Republican Party of Kentucky to Hold Presidential Caucus in 2016

Shelia Wade writes:
In my opinion, this is not a fair representation of the voters choice for a presidential election. It appears to me there may be a few that wishes to decide on the candidate and take the voters choice away. I am not in favor of a caucus. What is the appeals process that one may initiate to oppose this caucus that is being pushed down the voters throat? Thank You and I will be awaiting an answer. - Shelia Wade
Thanks. Maybe a reader will know how that appealing the caucus would work. It's a Republican Party concern. The party conducts the meetings. - CM

From Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife

FRANKFORT, KY – Kentucky’s first black bear hunt in modern times was held just six years ago in Harlan, Letcher and Pike counties. Not one hunter harvested a bear.

This year stands as a stark contrast.

Reader asks how Republican Caucuses will be conducted

Comments re article 79635 Republican Party of Kentucky to Hold Presidential Caucus in 2016

Randy Burns writes:
Any information from County Republican Party leaders in regards to how the caucus will be conducted? From what I've read online, it appears each county can have multiple options available that can be used in the process. For example: one location compared to multiple locations, secret ballot compared to "raising your hand or standing together in a corner of the room", etc. If those decisions have not yet been made, is there a time frame of when party members can expect to know? Thanks. - Randy Burns
Thanks. Others are wondering. We hope to have something from the area parties soon on the matter, from Chairman Shannon Rowe in Adair County and other chairpersons around the area, and will post what we learn.

Travel Advisory: I-65 in Hart County

By Chris Jessie, Public Information Officer
Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, District 4, Elizabethtown, KY

(7:08amCT Thu 17 Dec 2015) - Light volumes overnight were very beneficial in keeping traffic moving around the southbound closure at Exit 71 (Bonnieville). Aside from short periods of rain, no major issues were reported as contract crews cut trenches across travel lanes at Mile Point 67 and installed pipe to alleviate standing water issues.

Assistance by those on this distribution list is very appreciated. It would not have been possible to communicate our message to the traveling public without your help. Many motorists utilized the Western Kentucky and Natcher Parkway alternate route, relieving congestion on both I65 and US 31W.

With rain delaying work progress, completion was slightly behind schedule. All lanes are now open in Hart County.
