Geo. Kolbenschlag: Cutting back on Arts & Humanities shortsighted George Kolbenschlag writes: Thanks, Cayce for your thoughtful letter on the commissioner of education's decision to back down on including visual and performing arts as a viable career pathway. It's an alarming commentary on Kentucky when basketball and football outrank the arts. Participation in sports is also an important aspect of an education, but the opportunity to participate in and for some to make a career of the arts has historically enhanced the value of public education and been the pathway to a more rewarding life for millions. To cut back on that opportunity is short-sighted and unfortunately another example of denying our children the broad education that today's world demands. - George KolbenschlagComments re article 78456 Shock AND frustration greets humanities pathway decision 2015-10-23 20:08:37 | Comments | Printable version | See topic Local Arts Scene
