Basil Oneal Roy, 78, Russell County, KY (1937-2015)

He was a cattle farmer and attended Cedar Springs Baptist Church. He was a native of Russell County, KY, and a resident of the county at the time of his death. He was the son of the late Elwood Oneal Roy and Erthel Wilson Roy Norfleet. His wife, Alice Hopper Roy, survives. He leaves eight direct living descendants.

Basil Oneal Roy, 78, died Thursday, October 22, 2015 at the Russell County Hospital, Russell Springs, KY.

Funeral service for Basil Oneal Roy will be 10amCT, Monday, October 26, 2015 at the Bernard Funeral Home Chapel, 367 N Main Street, Russell Springs, KY, with Bro. Melvin Sisson and Bro. Bobby Oakes officiating. Visitation after 5pmCT, Sunday, October 25, 2015. Interment will be in the Cedar Springs Cemetery. Special music by Doug Bunch.


Pallbearers: Logan Coomer, Stuart Roy, Chase Roy, Bruce Johnson, Brandon Davenport, and Marshall Godsey.

He was born May 6, 1937 in Russell County, KY. He was the son of the late Elwood Oneal Roy and Erthel Wilson Roy Norfleet. He died Thursday, October 22, 2015, at the Russell County Hospital in Russell Springs, Russell County, KY, at the age of 78 years, five months and 16 days. He was a cattle farmer and attended Cedar Springs Baptist Church.

Survivors include the following:
  • His wife: Alice Hopper Roy, Windsor, KY

  • Two children: Carol Denise Coomer, Columbia, KY; Tony (Carla) Roy, Windsor, KY

  • Five grandchildren: Mackenzie (Brandon) Minton, Logan Coomer, Stuart Roy, Chase Roy, Spencer Roy

  • One great grandchild: Branson Minton

  • Step brother: Darwin (Eunice) Norfleet, Windsor, KY
