Don't hold your breath till state strikes 'Slavery as Punishment'

Casual Observer writes:
I hope no one holds his or her breath in anticipation of Kentucky striking the "slavery as punishment" provision from constitution. After all, the Bluegrass State was the last to ratify the 14th amendment, "only fivescore and ten years after it passed the US House & Senate and one hundred eight years after enough states, including several former members of the Confederacy, had ratified the document for it to become part of the US Constitution. -Casual Observer

Jon Halsey: On dueling and the Constitution

Jon Halsey writes:
I don't think anyone would have a problem with getting rid of Section 240. However, given the contentious nature of some recent Board and Council Meetings, I'm not sure it would be wise to amend Sections 228 and 239 of the Constitution of the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

The "Law of Unintended Consequences" seems to be particularly puckish in the political arena.

Blinking light seems to be E to SE of Longhunters

Joyce Coomer writes:
Noticed a light blinking on a tower that, from my vantage point inside the shop, should be located east to southeast of Longhunters. Haven't noticed it before so maybe it's new and the white blinking light on it is related some way to the color change on the TV tower at Cane Valley - same people own or service the towers, perhaps? - Joyce M. Robert Cumming: Look into removing dueling reference, too

Robert Cumming writes:
I believe the Kentucky Commission on Human Rights should also while they are looking into removing slavery as a form of punishment from the state Constitution look into removing any reference to dueling from the Constitution. Dueling is an inherently cruel, archaic and evil practice and any reference to it should also be stricken from the Constitution - Robert Cumming
