Comments on the professionalism of Godfrey Jackson

Billy Joe Fudge writes:
Just had the pleasure of working with Godfrey (Godfrey Jackson of Taylor RECC) at Homeplace on Green River where we have been making a huge investment in placing our utilities under ground in high traffic areas. He was such a professional in each and every way. It was quite apparent from the beginning that he had our well-being in mind while still satisfying the tenets of Taylor County RECC. - Billy Joe Fudge

If semi had believed signs, problem would not have occurred

Joe Hare writes:
I saw a semi last week come between the barricade sign at the Campbellsville St exit from the Square have a difficult time getting between them. If the driver had only believed what they said, "Road Closed Ahead" and went on around the Square he would not have had that problem plus he would not have had to turn around at the Pawn Shop. Sounds like the bus did the same thing, so all the blame is not on lack of signage. --Joe Hare

Of Bears & Blueberries: Three year old knew basics

By Mitzi Bault

When my daughter Amy and family lived to a little community in Tennessee, located in the rugged mountains between Jellico and LaFollette , they found it was very common to see bears on US 25 W, and other roads in the area.

My mom, Fay Waggener McKinley, wanted to give Amy some blueberry plants for the new home.

But Zack, my grandson, then around 3 or 4 years old, let my Mom know real quick it wouldn't do. "No! NO!" he protested. "That would make the bears come even closer to our house."

To this day we laugh about the incident anytime blueberry bushes are mentioned ... - Mitzi Bault

Sad word of the passing of Peggy Brockman

A quiet life of purpose and meaning. A role model of the highest order

It is received with profound sadness to learn of the passing of Peggy Brockman, a beloved citizen of Adair County. She made life more pleasant for thousands who knew her. She was one of Adair County's most influential ambassadors without ever leaving her as the gracious host at the Circle R Family Restaurant. She did as much to influence prospects to move to the area any individual of our time. She helped us all, at various times, start our days, raise our kids, believe in a certain goodness about ourselves few others have ever instilled. For those of us who knew her, she will be sorely missed, but never, ever, be forgotten. Details on the services for Peggy Brockman will be posted when received later from Grissom-Martin Funeral Home. - Ed & Linda Waggener

Bus backs up Campbellsville Street after getting lost in detour

By Daryl Branham
Personal commentary

I was in town today at the elder center at Lindsey Wilson Street and Campbellsville Street, when I saw a bus backing up toward town.

I left there and turned at the judicial center toward Wall Street and saw the bus going by toward the City Cemetery.

I followed them because I knew they were lost. I talked to the driver and led them to the bypass. They were headed to C-ville. Can we get some detour signs that will get tourist thru Columbia? THIS IS CRAZY!! - Daryl Branham
