Monarch Waystation program Sat 13 Jun 2015at Salato By Geoff Roberts FRANKFORT, Ky. - Folks who have ever wondered what they could do to help native butterflies are invited to a program and planting at the Salato Wildlife Education Center in Frankfort at 9:30amCT Saturday, June 13. The program, which will appeal to green thumbs and greenhorns alike, will highlight the essential elements of a Monarch Waystation. With monarch butterfly numbers in retreat due to habitat loss, waystations are special plantings along migration routes designed to provide food to adults and larvae. Participants wishing to gain hands-on experience are invited to help plant a waystation at the Salato Center at the conclusion of the program. While the program is included with the cost of general admission into the center, registration is required. Call (502) 564-7863 to secure your spot and indicate whether or not you wish to help with the planting of Salato's new waystation.
