COLUMBIA, KY - Autumn Burton was ready to start college less than two weeks after finishing high school.

The Russell County (KY) High School graduate was among 280 incoming Lindsey Wilson College freshmen who attended the first three EDGE days of the summer. The first three were held June 4-6; the final two will be July 24-25.

"It's a relief (to have finished high school) because I was tired of high school," said Burton, of Russell Springs, who graduated May 28. "I'm just ready to be out on my own."

Burton attended the Saturday EDGE day with fellow Russell County alumna Billie Peel, also of Russell Springs. Both plan to major in human services and counseling at LWC.

Great Oaks continues in Roley Christian building

Pastor Troy Long writes:
Ed, Great Oaks Ministries is using the same building. The building now has a red brick exterior and an addition that includes education rooms and a fellowship hall. These renovations were done by the members of Roley Christian Church prior to their merger with Knifley Christian Church. We are so thankful for the Lord bringing us to Roley to continue contending for salvations and for heaven to come to earth as many generations have done before us. --Pastor Troy Long

Next earlier Carol Perkins: Carol Perkins: Thoughts at Graduation Time.

By Carol Perkins

Guy and I were relaxing Sunday afternoon in front of the Weather Channel with the sound on mute when I turned to him and said, "I wish you would send me off." He caught my drift. "You needed to have been sent off years ago."

"No, I mean really send me off. Send me somewhere for a week or two."

"Do you want to be institutionalized? That probably can be arranged?"

"I was thinking of something more like a retreat with a spa and a swimming pool and horseback riding

Middleburg, Casey Co., KY: A Utopia of the Bluegrass

Middleburg is one of the most beautiful small towns in America today. JIM found an article from the June 29, 2014, Adair County News, which detailed advances the Casey County community enjoyed over 100 years ago. We had hoped to have photo(s) to illustrate Millerburg to go with today's post, but that may take a future day trip.
