Kentucky Color: Wow! Yellow Tab tree in Naples, FL

By Billy Joe Fudge, Vice-President, Homeplace on Green River

Being a "tree man" I'm always on the lookout for something beyond the ordinary, that is if any tree could be in good conscience labeled, ordinary. I suppose, extremely different and beautiful by comparison to our normal local species would be a better description of my search.

Well, I think I've found it (extremely different and beautiful) in Naples Florida. To the best of my ability to determine, it is either a Yellow Poinciana or a Yellow Tabebuia. I am at this point leaning toward the latter. It is locally known as the Yellow Tab.

Just a note for all concerned, as soon as "global warming" has its full effect in The Great Wooded South, I'm planting me at least one of these. - Billy Joe Fudge

Adair County Board of Education District Migrant Recruiter/Media Promotions/Technology

Friday, May 29, 2015, Adair County Elementary School had a special presentation: "Let's Celebrate Our Leaders in Arts and Humanities". I can say one thing as a spectator--it was a fabulous morning!

Students sang, played musical instruments, read poems, performed Karate, and some had even written the songs they performed.

Maddy Feese was the MC for the event and did a wonderful job keeping the show going on time and with plenty of smiles!

Students who performed were Elizabeth Smith and Angel Studer, Hazel White, Travez Taylor, Jake Hill and his dad Ken, Mirah Murphy, Jessica Hamlet, Briley Taylor, Serra Houk, Maggie Cox, Rachel Brown, and Sarai Collins.

We are truly blessed in our district to have talented leaders who are willing to share their abilities with others. ACES keep up the great work!

TAMPICO - Tampico on the Pike, as it was often known, was located on or near the Adair-Taylor County line. The post office often shifted from Taylor to Adair, due to the close proximity of the county line and in whose store or building it then housed.
