A new church was planted today, Living By Faith Community Church, located at 3041 Edmonton Road, Columbia just east of Gradyville. In the photo, working to help get the grounds cleared, are from left: Larry Baker, Jayln Cross son of Columbia Chief of Police Jason and Mandy Cross; Living By Faith pastor Bro. Bobby Withers and J.C. Coomer. All are from Gradyville except Coomer who is from Breeding. To the far right is visitor Barney Janes. Bro. Withers said a prayer of dedication was planned as the first step in beginning to prepare the building for services.

James Theodore (Thedie) Taylor, Taylor Co., KY (1946-2015)

He worked as a farm and construction worker and as a meat cutter at Wise Slaughter House. He was the widower of Lou Willie Smith, his wife of over 25 years. He leaves 28 direct and five step descendants.

The funeral for James Theodore "Thedie" Taylor will be held 12pm noon CT/1pmET, on Tuesday, April 28th at First Baptist Church, 704 E Broadway, Campbellsville, KY, where visitation will be from 10amCT/11amET to 12amCT/1pmET, prior to the service at First Baptist Church. Ben Arnold cites statutes on what constitutes a quorum

From his research, it takes 3 members to constitute a quorum; he maintains that both the Sheriff and the County Clerk are now qualified to sit on the board and could vote. Clerk could have two votes. He says his research indicates the Statutes state that the Sheriff and Clerk are the other standing members of the Board and are responsible to vote in this case. I don't believe the Sheriff and Clerk can abstain and appoint someone else, unless it is an election year for them.

Graveside service will be Monday, April 27, 2015 at 1pmCT, at Burkesville Cemetery with burial to follow. There will be no visitation prior to the service.

Adair Welding Team win 1st in Skills, USA. Advance to nationals!

LOUISVILLE, KY (9:03amCT, Sat 25 Apr 2015) The welding fabrication team from Adair County just won first place at Skills USA and advance to nationals.

Member so the team are:
  • Josh Grant, son of Andy Grant and Denise Grant
  • Chad Scholl, son of Brad and Lachana Scholl
  • Dusty Claiborne, son of Kevin and Shamarie Claiborne
The three members of the ACHS Welding Fabrication have each already earned $7,000 scholarships to the Kentucky Welding Institute.

Kentucky Color: Iris Bud and Flags

The local folks always called the sword shaped leaves of the Iris plant, flags. Of course the old-time, Blue Iris we see blooming all over our part of the world is actually, Blue Flag Iris. I suppose it was a natural progression, or regression if you'd rather, to begin referring to sword shaped leaves of all plants as "flags".

With the victory, the Blue Raiders improved to 14-7, while the Tigers dropped to 7-7.
