LWC Women's Tennis remains No. 4 in national rankings

Blue Raiders have maintained their spot in the top five all season

COLUMBIA, KY - The Lindsey Wilson women's tennis team retained its No. 4 ranking in the latest edition of the NAIA Women's Tennis Coaches' Top 25 Poll, as released by the national office on Tuesday, March 17, 2015. The Blue Raiders (3-6) received 310 voting points total. The next release of the rankings will be announced on Tuesday, March 31, 2015.

Lindsey Wilson Softball ascends to No. 2 in national rankings

Blue Raiders earn highest ranking in program history

COLUMBIA, KY - The Lindsey Wilson softball team climbed a pair of spots to No. 2 in the newest edition of the NAIA Softball Coaches' Top 25 Poll, as announced on Tuesday, March 17, 2015, by the national office. With 553 total voting points and four first-place votes, the Blue Raiders (16-3) achieved their highest rank in program history. Lindsey Wilson's losses this spring have come against NCAA Division II member Spring Hill (AL) and then-No.1 Auburn-Montgomery (AL). The next poll release will be unveiled on Tuesday, March 24, 2015.

COLUMBIA, KY - The Lindsey Wilson baseball team earned 173 voting points total to rank No. 22 in the latest edition of the NAIA Baseball Coaches' Top 25 Poll, as released by the national office on Tuesday, March 17, 2015. After receiving votes in both the preseason rankings as well as the March 10 edition, the Blue Raiders (13-8, 2-1 Mid-South Conference) cracked the top 25. The next poll will be announced on Tuesday, March 24, 2015.

BG law firm hired to resolve ACPC Geo-Thermal issues

Adair Bd. of Education wrestling with ACPC geo-thermal installation problems. Ballpark estimate of the cost to correct leaks is in the $1.4 million range, lead attorney says. Supt. Reed thinks district will be fully compensated for problems. Material equipment, is still in warranty period, he said.

Following the executive session at the 8amCT, Friday, March 14, 2014, Special Called School Board meeting, LaJuana Wilcher, attorney for English, Lucas, Priest & Owsley (ELPO) said that in the meeting, school board members had been given a briefing on possible legal action in regard to the geo-thermal installation at the Adair County Primary Center. She said the scope of the problem could be in the $1.4 million range, and that, at present, the issue is in the negotiating stage, and that legal action in court, not ruled out, might not be necessary.

Charles Preston (Chuck) Reece III, Bullitt Co., KY (1972-2015)

His ancestral home centered on the Breeding area of Adair County. He was the grandson of the late Charles Preston Reece, JR, and Elizabeth Reece Harvey, who survives. He was medically retired from Ford Motor Company and was an avid deer hunter, gun collector, and fisherman. He enjoyed spending time with his children and collecting Ford Mustang memorabilia.

ACHS math, science teachers collaborate with English Dept.

Purpose is to create writing assignments. Adair County High School English Teacher Kyle Ballou instructs Math Teacher Marsha Reddick's students in how to write a proper essay.

Mrs. Sheila Willis a Biology teacher and Mrs. Christy Dover an English teacher at ACHS, recently collaborated on a Stem Cell Writing Assignment for Mrs. Willis' Biology I course.

In an interview, Willis said: "They were the best papers [students have] written in years." Also in the interview Mrs. Willis was asked "Why would a Biology and an English teacher need to work together?" she replied "Because the Biology teacher doesn't know everything about writing. Mrs. Dover has helped me explain the writing process which has helped my Biology students make connections to their English assignments."

Jerry Moritz Goldade, Perryville, KY (1946-2015)

He was a native of North Dakota and a resident of Kentucky at the time of his death. His wife, Brenda Henize Goldade, survives. He leaves five direct living descendants. He served in the United States Army for 9 years and was a member of the VFW.

Both programs are researched based and proven to improve academic performance. Lexia deals with Reading and Language Arts and is aligned with Kentucky common core standards. The same is true with Dreambox, which is Mathematics based.

Last spring, Lindsey Wilson dropped a 10-9 decision against visiting IU-Southeast on March 18, 2014, snapping the Blue Raiders' seven-game winning streak against the Grenadiers.

Competitor Rebecca Montgomery won 2nd Place in the state in FPS Scenario Writing. This is Rebecca's third Top 5 in the State in a row with the team. The finish also earned her a bid to the World Championships in June at Iowa State University where she finished 3rd place overall last year.

Owner doesn't think of wonderful daffodil house as abandoned

Re: Daffodil photo on Johnson School Road

That house belongs to Greg and I. We purchased it from Mr. Leslie Morrison's granddaughter a few years ago. The March flowers there are always glorious, as are the day lilies in the summer.

I don't consider the house abandoned, as it is usually home to assorted wildlife.

Legislative update from State Senator Max Wise

FRANKFORT, KY (16 Mar 2015) -The 2015 Kentucky General Assembly adjourned near midnight on March 11, 2015, signaling the close of a complex and issue-laden short session. Thursday began the governor's 10-day veto period during which he can review the bills passed by both House and Senate for his approval or veto. Following his veto period, we will reconvene for the final two days, adjourning sine die on March 24.

Senate bills that will have more of a universal impact on Kentucky will enable improvements to public safety, health, economic development and education policy were enrolled late into Wednesday evening as the Senate and House passed bills cleanly, or accepted any changes made.

Reported scam targets Kentucky's Seniors

News from Attorney General Jack Conway's office

Kentucky Attorney General Jack Conway and the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services Department for Aging and Independent Living (DAIL) is warning consumers of a reported scam targeting Kentucky's seniors.

DAIL has reported to the Office of the Attorney General that it has received multiple reports of an individual or individuals who falsely identify themselves as a representative of the "Division of Aging" offering a complimentary Life Alert system paid for by the state. The callers are telling consumers all they need to do to receive this service is to verify some personal information.

Blue Raider pitchers tagged for 24 hits in the loss

COLUMBIA, KY - The Lindsey Wilson baseball team fell to No. 24 Campbellsville (KY) by a final score of 13-2 on Monday, March 16, 2015, at Egnew Park.

Playing in the finale of a three-game series, the Blue Raiders could not pull off the sweep as Lindsey Wilson allowed 24 base hits to the Tigers' lineup.

Campbellsville improves to 10-4 overall and 2-1 in Mid-South Conference play, while the Blue Raiders move to 13-8 and 2-1 in MSC play.

Daryl Blaskovich provided the lone spark in the Lindsey Wilson offense with a two-run homer in the third.

Casey Co. Library moves Eddie Price event to larger venue, to First Christian Church, 323 Middleburg Street, Liberty, KY, anticipating larger crowd. Presentation centers around the Cane Ridge Revival of 1801

Author Eddie Price will be presenting a program at the Casey County Library, 238 Middleburg Street (See new venue, above), Liberty, KY, at 10amCT/11amET, on Saturday, March 21, 2015.

Price is the author of Widder's Lander, who recently appeared at Lindsey Wilson College in Columbia. He will be presenting a program on the Cane Ridge Revival that took place in 1801 in Bourbon County, Kentucky. The revival drew 25,000 people from all over Kentucky and surrounding states and territories--including the Governor of Kentucky, James Garrard.
