ACES having success with incentives at online programs

By Shamarie Claiborne, Media Promotions
Adair County School District, 1204 Greensburg Road, Columbia, KY

The Adair County Elementary School is having huge success with an incentive program connected to two online programs, Lexia and Dreambox. Both programs are researched based and proven to improve academic performance. Lexia deals with Reading and Language Arts and is aligned with Kentucky common core standards. The same is true with Dreambox, which is Mathematics based.

ACES students are encouraged to use the programs at home as well as at school. Each student has a username and password enabling them to access the software that is located at school from any location. They are given weekly objectives connected to each program. Every student that reaches their goal for the week in either program receives a certificate during morning assembly. Principal Steve Burton has recognized as many as 90 students in one week.

This is a first for our School System and ACES is using the new access abilities to their fullest. To all the ACES students out there: Keep up the great work!
