Tommy Bailey: Big Four Bridge, Jeffersonville, and Louisville Waterfront Park

While in Louisville this past week-end we decided to walk the Big Four Bridge. It has become a very big attraction for both Louisville and Jeffersonville, IN.

Louisville has a very beautiful waterfront park and Jeffersonville is about to finish something similar on their side.

View from Big Four Bridge

2014-07-01 - Over Ohio River, Louisville, KY-Jefferville, IN - Photo by Tommy Bailey. This view is looking up the Ohio River - east - from the Kentucky side of the Big Four. The observation deck is at the Louisville Waterfront Park. We're still looking for the name of the island, as well as the building on the right that just ever so remotely evocative of the Sydney Opera House, from this angle.

Gerald Reliford notes interesting fact about the image in window

Gerald Reliford writes:
As a trained (by EW) reporter observation is important. I can't explain the old lady's reflection mainly because I have not investigated the scene. But I do have a question. From where was the Moore's sign reflected? It is certainly not from the sign pictured since there is a missing "o" in the marquee and no "-" afterwards. All mysteries have an explanation but all evidence must be present. Sometimes pictures do lie. Concrete facts do not. - Gerald Reliford

Kentucky State Apiarist Dr. Tammy Horn didn't find out her true calling in life until she was in her 20s. In 2000, Horn moved back to her native Kentucky from Alabama to help her grandfather, who had Parkinson's disease, take care of his beehives on his Fayette County farm.

"It was only out of respect for him," Horn said. "I thought, in the arrogance of being somebody in their 20s, 'This is just not my gig.'

Who is that in the window? Is it someone in the building or is it someone's reflection? It looks like a lady wearing a gardening hat sitting in a chair holding a bunch of twigs or branches. Was she really there, or is was it just shadows? - Linda Lewis
Thanks, Linda Lewis There was no one in the building and nobody in a gardening hat, to my knowledge. But I can make out the image you describe - the hat is under the reflected "E" - from the Moore's sign.
