Virginia Caulk, Taylor Co., KY (1921-2013)

She was a native of Green County, KY. She was the daughter of the late Ellis Akin and Carrie Bale Akin. She was the widow of Walter "Jiggs" Caulk. Their marriage spanned over 63 years. She leaves four direct living descendants spanning three generations. She professed faith in Christ and was a member of the Good Hope Baptist Church. She was a retired beautician.

At Adair Extension office, along with Adair Sportsman Club and KY Department of Fish & Wildlife

The Adair County Cooperative Extension Service in cooperation with the Adair County Sportsman Club, and KY Department of Fish & Wildlife will be hosting Deer Management workshops on August 20, August 27, and September 3, 2013 at the Adair County Cooperative Extension Service, 409 Fairground Street, Columbia, KY. Each session will begin at 6pmCT.

Marion County fatal collision takes life of Finley, KY resident

Driver of 2002 Chevy pickup arrested and charged with DUI 1st aggravated. 40-year old driver of 2012 Polaris Razor ATV transported to Springview and pronounced dead there by the Marion County Coroner. 14-year old passenger on ATV also treated for injuries.

(LEBANON, KY.) - Trooper Logan Richardson is investigating a fatal collision that occurred on Sunday, August 11, 2013 at approximately 7:09pmCT on KY 208. 28-year-old Joseph M. Spaulding of Lebanon was operating a 2002 Chevy Pickup, traveling east on KY 208 when he crossed the centerline and struck a 2012 Polaris Razor ATV. The Razor was operated by 40-year-old William J. Cecil of Finley, KY.<

The fog in August/Snows next winter update

Fog was a factor in the morning commute between Campbellsville and Columbia, between the Big Dawg 99.9 and the WAVE 92.7. There was a heavy dense fog on KY 55 all the way down into Coburg. That brings the total of fogs to 4 and with a Fogs in Augusts/Snows next winter to four. We had heavy thick fogs on August 1 and 2. Again on August 10, 2013; and on today, August 12. - Laro

Move in Weekend at ACPC for Lift off to Learning, Aug, 14, 2013

Countdown: Just 2 more days until the start of school. This past weekend, Saturday-Sunday, the logistics planned out for military precision, the teacher takeover of the new school began in earnest. Thanks to the all the staff, especially maintenance, and especially the volunteers from the Columbia Christian Church, who came out in the rain, everything is on schedule for the start of school at 7:45amCT, Wednesday, August 14, 2013 - about 25 hours from this posting!

Train/Chevy Tahoe Collision at Big Clifty, KY results in fatality

Driver of 2000 Chevy Tahoo pronounced dead at scene of Grayson County crossing. Juvenile passenger taken airlifted to Kosair Children's Hospital with non-life threatening injuries

BIG CLIFTY, KY (Sunday, August 11, 2013) - On Saturday, August 10, 2013 at approximately 5:10amET, Kentucky State Police Post 04 received a call in regard to an injury crash involving a train at the crossing on Hughes Mill Road.

Carl Roof (62 yoa) was heading east when the 2000 Chevy Tahoe he was operating was struck by a southbound train. The vehicle was struck on the driver's side door causing it to overturn and come to rest on the south side of Hughes Mill Road, next to the Railroad tracks.

Mr. Roof was pronounced dead at the scene by Grayson Co. Deputy Coroner Larry Holeman. A juvenile passenger was airlifted to Kosair Children's Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Both occupants of the vehicle were wearing seatbelts. The investigation is ongoing by KSP Sgt. Greg Hill. KSP was assisted at the scene by Grayson County EMS and the Grayson Count Coroners Office. - TPR Jeff Gregory
