Aaron (Big A) Floyd, Casey Co., KY (1917-2013)

He was a farmer, U.S. Army Veteran of World War II and member of Mt. Olive Christian Church. He was the son of the late Christopher Columbus and Myrtle Patterson Floyd. His wife of 73 years, Clarice Williams Floyd, survives. He leaves 16 direct living descendants.

Funeral Services will be held 10amCT/11amET, Saturday July 20, 2013 at Mt. Olive Christian Church. Rev. Greg Powell officiating. Burial will be in the Durham Cemetery. Visitation will be held 5pm-7pmCT/6pm-8pmET, Friday July 19, 2013 at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel and after 9amCT/10amET, on Saturday July 20th, 2013 at Mt. Olive Christian Church.

New Life for the Nations Kids Camp 2013 July 2627

New LIfe for the Nations, 5095 Campbellsville Road, Columbia, KY, will have its Kids Camp on Friday-Saturday, July 26-27, 2013. The theme this year is "Rocky Point Lighthouse." Children ages 6-12 are invited to come and stay all night if they want to stay. There will be a preschool class on Friday, 4pm-8pmCT for children ages 3-6 and on Saturday morning from 8am-2pmCT. Drivers injured in 2 vehicle collision on East KY 80

Both taken to Westlake Regional Hospital; one driver airlifted to Louisville, the other to Lexington

Adair Sheriff Dept along with Adair EMS , Adair Fire Dept and search and rescue where dispatched to East KY 80 on a two vehicle accident with injuries, on Tuesday, July 16, 2013.

Mr. Joseph Trumpis of Columbia, KY, was operating a 2009 Chrysler when he crossed the center line and hit a 2001 Ford van driven by Mrs Linda Bennett of Columbia, KY. Mrs Bennett and Mr Trumpis were treated on scene by Adair EMS then taken to Westlake Regional Hospital, Columbia. Mr. Trumpis was flown to University of Kentucky Hospital in Lexington, KY; and Mrs Bennett was flown to U of L, Louisville, KY.

Pedestrian injured in vehicle-pedestrian collison, C-ville

Accident occurs on KY 70 at south limits of Campbellsville

The Campbellsville Police Department investigated a vehicle-pedestrian collision at the south limits of Campbellsville, today Tuesday, July 16, 2013.

The Campbellsville Police Department received a 911 call at approximately 4:18amET, reporting a vehicle and pedestrian collision on KY 70 at the south limits of Campbellsville. According to an investigation conducted by Officer Branden Wilson, a vehicle operated by Sandra Auker; age 49; 299 Maple Hill Road; Liberty, KY was traveling west on KY 70.

A pedestrian, Cory J. Maas; age 16; 701 North Jackson Street; Campbellsville, KY was walking along KY 70 toward Campbellsville. According to the investigation, Auker was unable to see Maas walking on the roadway and struck the pedestrian. Maas was transported to Taylor Regional Hospital by CTCEMS and was later transferred to the University of Louisville Hospital. Ms. Auker was examined by EMS personnel and released. No indications that alcohol or drugs were present with either party in the collision. The investigating officer was B. Wilson. From Campbellsville Police Department, Tim Hazlett, Chief

Portion of KY 206 in Adair to be temporarily closed

Work starts Wednesday, July 24, on sight distance improvement project

SOMERSET, Ky. (July 16, 2013) - Beginning Wednesday, July 24, KY 206 in Adair County will be temporarily closed beginning at Young Street (mile point 0.494) and ending at KY 3491 (mile point 0.790) as contractors begin construction on the sight distance improvement project.

Motorist are asked to pay close attention to road signage for detour routes.

Work is scheduled to last approximately three weeks. The duration of work may be adjusted for inclement weather or other unforeseeable delays. Drivers should expect delays and are encouraged to allow extra time in reaching their destinations.

There are communities worldwide, but Columbia and Adair County rank right up at the top when it comes to supporting "friends" in the community. As many of you know I had a life threatening ordeal the past year. It was truly a trip through "the valley of the shadow of death."

Mike Hatfield, Casey County, KY (1947-2013)

He was a native of Casey County, KY, the son of Lola Tarter Hatfield and the late Roy Hatfield. His wife, Joyce Woods Hatfield, survives. He leaves 3 direct living descendants. He was a retired food coordinator at Northpoint. Mike was of the Protestant faith and Vietnam Army veteran. He was a food manager for the former Druthers Restaurant in Liberty and a Kentucky Colonel.

COLUMBIA, KY - Nate Brock began to experience college only halfway through his high school career. Brock was one of 32 rising high school juniors from 27 Eastern and Southcentral Kentucky counties who spent July 7-12, 2013 at Lindsey Wilson College as part of the Rogers Scholars program.

CAUD, Jamestown, and Liberty water systems rank high in state

(July 12, 2013) - Thirteen Kentucky water districts received special recognition from the Kentucky Energy and Environment Cabinet for achieving optimized microbial water quality goals 100 percent of the time.

Three of those systems, Columbia/Adair Utilities District, Liberty Water Works, and Jamestown Municipal Water System from the 7-County area were included.

A fourth system in the 7-County area,, Burkesville Water Works, was recognized for meeting the goals at least 95% of the time.

One hundred fifty-five public and private water treatment plants participated in Kentucky in the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Area-Wide Optimation Program.
