Terry Akin was unique individual, a role model for many

Debbie Selby writes:
Terry Akin was a unique individual who has touched the lives of many people in Adair County. He was dedicated to his profession and it was not a job to him - it was a way of serving and helping the citizens of Adair County. He was a positive role model for those who worked with him. I am very thankful for the positive influence he has had on my family and he will not be forgotten nor will there ever be anyone who can fully fill his shoes. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family. --Debbie Selby

Terry Akin, Adair County, KY (1955-2013)

His own personal warmth and infectious smile was reflected in the extraordinary love the people of Adair County had for him. He was a man of principal who could advocate deeply held political positions and principles of his Christian faith without offense to those who might differ. His conversations on issues were models of civil discourse. Still, he will be remembered for much more than his friendliness, but also for the well deserved respect he earned through the dedication and passion he had for his chosen field, the many people influenced to follow in his footsteps, and for the many lives he helped save over the years. He had recently retired as Director of the Adair County Ambulunce Service, at the end of an illustrious 37 years of service. In a large sense, his great legacy is a highly trained Adair County EMS service largely unequalled - anywhere, whether in big cities or small communities such as his beloved Adair County . A consummate volunteer, he served Adair County in many other ways, as well. He was a member of the Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church. He was a member of a highly regarded, close knit Adair County family. His wife, Luanna Keltner survives. He leaves two direct living descendants.

Trusting CACEDA Board to do right thing for GR Commerce Park

'All concerned want what is best for Columbia/ Adair County and are committed to make sure the correct type of industry is allowed in the park' - ROB WILKERSON

By Rob Wilkerson

I know many people including myself are concerned about how the Green River Commerce park is developed.

All concerned want what is best for Columbia/ Adair County and are committed to make sure the correct type of industry is allowed in the park.

The protective covenants in place will protect current residents and nearby landowners from property devaluation and nuisance causing developments.

I leave my trust in the current CACEDA board members to follow these protective covenants and make the correct choices about any new projects that may be up for discussion. - Rob Wilkerson
