Kentucky Color - James Alvin (Abb) Fudge

Pa Fudge's birthday, July 4th, 1892, made the holiday even more special for members of the writer's family. He remembers the days when most of the family, on vacation, would stop by and sit a spell on at Pa Fudge's place - a cherished memory of a practice not so common today.

By Billy Joe Fudge, Retired District Forester
Kentucky Department of Forestry

I have a copy of the the military registration record for my Pa Fudge.

One thing of interest is his birthday, July 4th 1892. That birth date made July 4th a very much anticipated date because most of our family would be on vacation and would always stop by during the 50's and 60's to pay their respects to Pa as the head of our family.

Man, I miss those days when we valued each other enough to take the time to stop by and sit a spell.
