Peg Schaeffer cites KY Humane Society in Louisville, KY

"We have spayed/neutered so many dogs we're putting ourselves out of a job."

By Peg Schaeffer

Today I took two litters of puppies to the KY Humane Society in Louisville, KY. They have a very successful spay/neuter program and therefore their puppy room is empty. Their animal behaviorist told me "We have spayed/neutered so many dogs we're putting ourselves out of a job." Glad I'm not the only one who thinks like that.

They do pediatric spay/neuter so even puppies are altered before they leave the shelter. They also have a program called "Star" where people can surrender the dog to the shelter. They notify the owner when the pet is adopted and if the owner changes their mind they can take their dog back at no cost. Thanks again. We found only one duplication in Birthdays

There's a big list of important birthdays today: 24 at 4:40amCT/2013-03-12

Thanks to readers, the Birthdays listing is getting longer and longer, and edits fewer and fewer. That's good.

This morning, only one duplication was found, and it has been changed. Birthdays, Anniversaries and In Memory Birthdays, as most now know, are posted one time and then are scheduled to repeat each year until we are notified otherwise. But we invite everyone to proofread and let us know of any other corrections needed.

Today, March 12, is the very best day to post Birthdays for March 12. Before sending a March 12 birthday, just check the Birthdays list. Missing Birthday, Anniversaries, and In Memory Birthdays should then be sent using any b>Contact/Submit button.

Thanks for remembering all our sponsors and advertisers, especially any and all advertising on Birthdays. Without advertisers and sponsors CM would not be possible.

Linda Cook: Cites need for bridge on Keen-Wilson Road

Can now make creek crossing to get to Ozark and Putman County in Adair County, and Russell Springs, and Russell County only when the creek is down and in Ronald's pickup; her car is too close to the ground to ford the stream.

Linda Cook writes:
Fully agree with the author of this comment. My mother in law (the lovely Doris Cook) lives in the land of Putman. To get there is either a trip through town to go out 80 or up 92 from our house in Beautiful Joppa and backtrack from Russell Springs. The only time we can "cross the creek" is when it hasn't rained much and we are in Ronald's truck - my car is too low for such doings. Don't know in which magisterial district this problem lies, but would love to see some bridge construction there. - Linda Cook
Thanks, Linda Cook - It's a project which will benefit a lot of people, especially those in Third District Magistrate Sammy Baker's District and in Second District Magistrate Daryl Flatt's District as well as all of Russell County CJE Gary D. Robertson. And, of course, shot callers of political parties, who have 'say' with any government official who has more clout than a broke thumb. Don't know whether the Adair County Road Department builds Russell Creek sized bridges or not. They sure put some good ones over Sulphur. Hope you go for it. -EW
