Epicurean Kentuckian: Link/story on roadkill

Click on headline for story, picture of Jericho, Adair County, KY and Butler County, KY roadkill aficionados

Blue Ribbon Bear Board member and connoisseur Johnny Vaughn who lately visited West Virginia to enjoy the Roadkill Cookoff, isn't alone in appreciating the gourmet fare found on highways.

A Gradyvillian sends a link to a story in the New York Times online about the Montana Legislature enacting a law to allow Montanans the economic and nutritional advantages of animal nutrition following unfortunate vehicle vs. varmint incidents. The link is: Doubling Back for the Roadkill at NYTime.com.

The idea invites the question: What about Kentucky? What's the law on freshly killed deer? If there's no law similar to Montana's, is there any move to enact one? - CM

Email notifications suspensions continues today

The decision had to be made: Post more or notify with emails more.

We decide to post as many relevant stories and pictures today instead of sending emails. There's always a backlog of items which should have made the news columns, but don't.

The suspension is also a beta test to see if so many email notifications are needed at all; if in fact, sending them is simply work which ought not be did in the first place.

Those enrolled in CM's part of the world, the change yesterday seemed to have worked - and caused us to consider whether to renew the notifications programs or not.

After all, 80% of the people who submit follow the magazine closely enough to catch 80% of what's on the magazine without a prompt - and they are the audience we are primarily hoping to please.

Comments welcome. -CM
