Lindsey Wilson College Scholars Days attracts best and brightest high school students

COLUMBIA, KY - Before Saturday, Lauren Marshall had already visited Lindsey Wilson College four times. But she was nervous on her fifth trip to the college.

Marshall was one of 139 high school seniors from Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky and Ohio who attended Scholars Day Saturday. The students competed for one of three John B. Begley Scholarships. The students - who were among the best and brightest high school seniors in the region - interviewed with panels composed of LWC professors, students and Begley Scholar alumni.

She was the matriarch of a distinguished Adair County, KY family. She was the widow of Lawrence L. Yarberry. She leaves 31 direct living descendants. She was a member of Pollards Chapel United Methodist Church and was a Nurse Technician at Westlake Regional Hospital. She was a member of a highly regarded Cane Valley area family, the daughter of the late Mason Stanley and Myrte Willis Smith. She is survived by her husband, Ores Brockman. COLUMBIA, KY - Trooper Kenneth Brown is investigating a collision that occurred on KY 55, 6 miles north of Columbia at 9:03pmCT on Friday, February 22, 2013. 37-year-old Lisa Willis of Columbia was traveling south, operating a 2006 Chevy van, when she rear ended a 1997 Chevy Blazer operated by 38-year-old Aimee Echols of Columbia.

Three Adair County Players received all 20th District Boys Basketball honors following the finals at John Burr Memorial Gymnasium on Saturday, February 22, 2012.

Junior Matt Fudge was one of four players to receive the all academic award. Eighth graders Chance Melton and Kel Stotts along with Fudge were named to the regular season all district team as well as the all tournament team. - Mark Fudge

It's drawing near: 9th Annual Art in the Alley in Greensburg, KY

The 9th Annual Greensburg Art in the Alley Festival will be held 9am-4pmCT/10am-5pmET, Saturday, May 18, 2013, just off the Downtown Square in beautiful, historic Greensburg, KY. The event is sponsored by the Greensburg Arts Council and will feature Kentucky's artisans exhibiting their work. It is a great arts and cultural even for all the family. - MIMI MOORE

We're changing alleys for this year: It is still off Main Street in an alley, but we will be changing alleys. The one we have been having it in the past 8 years is undergoing work. It is possibly going to be closed to the 'Footbridge' but will know more next week and will have an address to put with the rest of the information so it will have all the data to be posted in your events calendar. Stolen property retrieved at Lakeway Hills Trailer Park

Property stolen from Gentry Mills Road in Adair County reported to RCSO and Russell Springs Police by Adair County Sheriff's Office. RSPD officer Melissa Taylor and RC Deputy Dustin Bunch recover items and returned them to Adair County Sheriff Adam Cravens. Charges are pending

Adair Sheriff's Office responded to a break-in on Gentry Mill Road Friday night, February 22, 2013.

Deputy Cravens spoke with the resident Heather Hunter who advised she had come home to find her front door kicked in and items taken.

The Taylor County Cardinals captured the 20th district title with a 58-53 overtime win over the Adair County Indians in front of a packed house at the Adair County High School, John Burr Memorial Gym.

The game was close throughout.
