2012 Report: Coffee Can Fund at Plum Point Baptist Church

Twenty seven children got to go on $200 Christmas Shopping trip through Plum Point Baptist Church's Coffee Can Fund helping outreach. In addition, deserving families down on their fortune receive financial help throughout the year.

Just to let everyone know about this year's Coffee Can Fund at Plum Point Baptist Church - we're continuing to help needy families in the community (or elsewhere) have a happier Christmas. We took 27 kids Christmas shopping in 2012.

2012-12-30 - E. Fortune Street, Columbia, KY - Photo by Granddad. Hailey, the littlest granddaughter, visited in Columbia today, along with her new doll, Stella, who has her very own pink pacifier, both little ones securely held by Mema. The family starts celebrating Hailey's 1st birthday January 1st, a little over three weeks before the grand event. Hailey's first Christmas was a resounding success. She now features 7 teeth with another on the way and fine vocabulary. - Granddad

Happy Tails: The Story of Button

Button had many endearing qualities, not the least of which was his unbound spirit. He was a live wire. His bond with his people in his new home were ecstatic - until his unbounded need to chew caused a reluctant almost tearful disadoption - briefly. After a brief hiatus, there was a happy ending - with a more realistic animal behavior and the need, sometimes, of some doggie discipline. No matter how cute the beloved pet is.

I'll be home for Christmas...

A Good Samaritan found a cute white dog with curly hair wandering the streets of Greensburg in May. She was worried that he would get hurt and brought him to us. He was as cute as a "Button" and that became his name.

How quickly it came and how quickly it went. Another Christmas. We prepare for the holiday weeks in advance and then as quickly as wrapping paper peels off a box, it is over. Finished. I don't know about you, but the day after Christmas I want to remove all signs of the season and move on.

Stolen property recovered from rental storage site

Columbia Police Ofc. Johnny Dial arrests 30 year old Simon Turner, charging him with receiving stolen property over $500. Investigation continues

On Friday, December 28, 2012, at 3:04pmCT, a search warrant was executed by Columbia Police Department at Franklin Storage Units located on Hudson street in the limits of Columbia, KY.

The search yielded the recovery of stolen property valued at over $1,000 dollars.

The Adair County Indians took home the second place trophy in the Nelson County Holiday Classic with a relatively easy 62-54 win Saturday night, December 29, 2012, in Bardstown, KY. The victory improved the Indiands record to 8-5 on the season.

Timothy Wayne Howard, Breeding, KY (1946-2012)

He was a disabled Vietnam War Veteran who served his country in the U. S. Army, and will be accorded full military honors by Columbia VFW Post 6097 at burial rites in Breeding, KY. He was a native of Ohio and a respected resident of the Breeding community at the time of his death. He is survived by his wife, Susan Cassell Howard. He leaves 5 direct living descendants. He was a farmer
