Boys Basketball: ACHS 62; Nelson County 54 Indians bring home second place trophy in the Nelson County Holiday Classic. Three Indians make all tournament team - Kel Stotts, Marshall Shelley, and Chance Melton Next - ACHS Boys Varsity basketball vs. Spencer County Special to ColumbiaMagazine.com Sports News of Adair County High School Athletics The Adair County Indians took home the second place trophy in the Nelson County Holiday Classic with a relatively easy 62-54 win Saturday night, December 29, 2012, in Bardstown, KY. The victory improved the Indiands record to 8-5 on the season. Ty Bennett connected on three first period three pointers to help the indians jump out to a 17-7 first period lead. Kel Stotts got the hot hand in the second period scoring 13 of his team high 19 points while connecting on three treys. The Indians led 37-24 at the half. Matt Fudge took over the scoring load in the third period scoring eight of his 10 points including two threes as the Indians raced out to a 52-33 lead after three periods. The Cardinals went on a 21-10 fourth period run but the Indians held on for the win. The scoring for Adair was as follows: Stotts 19, Bennett 12, Fudge 10, Marshall Shelley 9, Chance Melton 8, Jake Hixson 2, and Tanner Pooler 2. Also seeing action for Adair were Jayden Willis, Zach Hutchison, and Colton Back. Adair County had three players named to the all tournament team. They were Kel Stotts, Marshall Shelley, and Chance Melton. The Adair County JV team also captured two wins during the classic with a 44-30 win over Whitley County on Friday and an exciting 45-42 win over Nelson County on Saturday.
