Bill Asbery, 44, Hustonville, KY (1968-2012)

He was a tool and die maker and owner and operator of B&J Towing. He was of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and loved working on cars. He was the son of the late Jimmie Asbery and Barbara Blakey Asbery, who survives, as does his beloved wife, Judy Barnett Asbery and son, Joe Asbery.

Bill Asbery passed away Thursday December 27, 2012 at his home in Hustonville, KY. He was 44.

Cremation rites were honored by McKinney-Brown Funeral Home, 752 Campbellsville Street, Liberty, KY. A memorial service will be held at a later date..

Stotts twins, Cagney & Lacy, doing well

These twin female mules, a rarity in the equine world, are doing well. They were born May 29, 2012, on the Junior and Connie Stotts place on Burkesville Road, just south of the Louie B. Nunn Parkway interchange No. 46. The mules got a proper launch under the expert care of Charles Shirley at Andy Withers' Hot City Stables, where they boarded for a few days. Now, Cagney, the blaze faced beauty on the left, and Lacy, right are showing great poise at near seven months. See related story, photos: New twins cause stir in horse community

Funeral services will be at 1pmCT/2pmET, Sunday, December 30, 2012, at Wilson Funeral Home, 391 E. Steve Wariner Drive, Russell Springs, KY. Visitation will be after 3pmCT/4pmET, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Haven Hill Cemetery, 1276 Liberty Road, Columbia, KY.

Wayne Moore, Adair County, KY (1930-2012)

He was a native of Adair County, KY, he was the son of the late Lawrence Moore and the late Terry Hayes Moore. He was the brother of Bobby Moore of Columbia, KY, and Danny Moore of Campbellsville, KY. He was the patriarch of a highly regarded family. His marriage to Jean Bryant Moore endured over 58 years. He leaves nine direct living descendants.Mr. Moore was of the Baptist Faith. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a retired diesel mechanic for Kelly Leasings, Columbus, IN. He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, fishing, and Nascar racing.

 Wayne Moore, 82, Edinburgh Indiana, died Sunday, December 23, 2012, at 9:56pmCT/10:56pmET, at Homeview Center in Franklin, IN.

Funeral services will be held at 12pmCT/1pmET, Friday, December 28, 2012, at Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home, 302 E Main Cross Street, Edinburgh, IN, with Rev. Lewis Burton officiating. Interment will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, between S. Eisenhower DR and US 31 near their intersection, in Edinburgh, IN. Visitation is 3pm-7pmCT/4pm-8pmET, Thursday, December 27, 2012, at the funeral home. Military graveside rites will be provided by Edinburg American Legion Post No. 233.

No Adair County Knife Swap on January 1, 2013

The Adair County Knife Swap will not be having an auction and knife swap at 3pmCT/4pmET, Tuesday, January 1, 2013 due to it be being the first day of the year, but will be meeting on the third Tuesday, January 15, 2013, in the basement of the Masonic Lodge, 501 Burkesville Street, Columbia, KY. The Adair County Knife Club will be hosting a Knife Swap and Auction, the 1st and 3rd Tuesday nights of every month in the basement of the Columbia Masonic Lodge, 501 Burkesville Street, (Burkesville and Frazier Streets) Columbia, KY. Doors will open at 3:00pmCT/4pmET. The auction begins at 5:00pmCT/6pmET. There is no smoking allowed in the basement, but you may smoke outside. Jobless rates better 2012 over 2011 - down in all 7 area counties

Adair County continues to show improvement, with .9% year to year improvement, and unemployment below statewide average, just 0.1% over national average.

Adair, Casey, Cumberland, Green, Metcalfe, Russell and Taylor Counties
  1. Taylor Co., down from 8.1% jobless 2011 to 7.1% in 2012
  2. Casey Co., down from 8.7% jobless 2011 to 7.2% in 2012)
  3. Adair Co., down from 8.4% jobless 2011 to 7.5% in 2012
  4. Green Co., down from 8.2% jobless 2011 to 7.4% in 2012
  5. Metcalfe Co., down from 9.3% jobless 2011 to 8.1% in 2012
  6. Russell Co., down from 9.3% jobless 2011 to 8.4% in 2012
  7. Cumberland Co., down from 10.7% jobless 2011 to 9.7% in 2012
Rates for the Lake Cumberland Area Development improved from 9.9% jobless rate in 2011 to 8.6 in 2012. The Statewide Kentucky rate improved from 8.5% to 7.6%. Nationally, the rate was 7.4% for November, 2012.
