No street food stalls at Art in the Alley But there will be plenty of good places to eat in easy walking distance Learned a secret practiced by the promoters of Art in the Alley: They don't have food vendors on the street. The theory, they said, is that they want the event to benefit local restaurants, to help make them stronger financially. They have a number of them right downtown: Kentucky Headhunters, a Chinese and a Mexican Restaurant, Longhunters Coffee House, and a most delightful Snappy Tomato Pizza Store - a chain, but with a real local flavor. These are all in easy walking distance of the Festival. Learned this on a spy mission today to see what these Green Countians are up to. - ED WAGGENER. 2012-05-18 20:20:00 | Comments | Printable version

Lots of possibilities for the neighborhood Miss Victoria comments on stuff we don't know enough about to write about: On the Cracker Barrel which might be built at the old underwear plant site in Campbellsville, KY. Wayward JIM of History Cousins resurrects opines of Cyrus Posted as required reading in preparation for the First Annual Book Fair, June 2, 2012, to be held at the Historic Adair County, KY Courthouse, 500 Public Square, Columbia, KY. Ed, You know I am a man of peace who steers things up only as a last resort, but do you think it would help any to resurrect the (in)famous Cyrus "list of 15" Adair County books, perhaps with a Waggenerian intro challenging Adair Countians to come up with better choices and/or additional choices of books published in the ensuing six years since the list appeared? (Ol' Cyrus is pretty thick-skinned, I'm told, so feel free to "Lay on, McWaggener!")The Cyrus Magnum Opus, retrieved from the moldy dustbins of ancient CM 2006 archives, follows: Article continues... click title or click here to read whole article. 2012-05-18 06:33:28 | Comments | Printable version

Stuff we don't know enough about to write about Somebody please help. They're keeping us in the dark By Ed Waggener I'm beginning to feel paranoid. There's so much nobody is telling me enough about to write stories about: 1) Whether or not a Cracker Barrel restaurant is going to land in Campbellsville, KY, at the old Fruit of the Loom site or not. 2) When the Big Boys of Columbia business are going to start the hotel at Holladay Place. 3) What the next big development, said to be too big to get on the Internet, is going to be, at Holladay Place. 4) Whether or not a huge truck stop is, in fact, going to be built on the Dohoney Farm now that it's annexed into the City of Columbia. 5) Whether or not there's a State of the Art Recording Studio going into the Firestone/Arnold Building in Downtown Columbia, igniting another growth spurt in Downtown Columbia. If anybody knows anything about this, or any other news, please let me know, with the caveat: If I knew, I'd be telling our readers. That's my job. -Ed Waggener, 270-250-2730. 2012-05-18 04:58:48 | Comments | Printable version
