After reading the letter, Mr. Herbst said, "Our job is finished. Now it is in your hands."

Re: Superintendent Selection

Dear Chairperson Burton and Members of the Adair County School Board:

On behalf of the Superintendent Selection Committee, I am writing to inform you of our work and submit names for consideration as the next Superintendent of the Adair County School Board.

The committee held its first meeting on Thursday, May 3rd. During this meeting, we began the process of reviewing the 15 resumes submitted for consideration from interested applicants. We continued this review of resumes on Tuesday, May 8th. After several hours of discussion, the committee narrowed the 15 applicants to five (5) persons we chose to personally interview as part of our process.

The Board attorney contacted the five (5) finalists by telephone to schedule interviews. One of the five was not available. We conducted interviews on Monday, May 14th, and Wednesday, May 16th. We were very pleased with the quality of the individuals seeking the position of Superintendent for our school system.

After conducting personal interviews and further discussion among the committee, we recommend the following three (3) individuals for consideration of the Superintendent's position:
  • Alan Reed
  • Mark Thomas
  • Marvin Welch
On behalf of the committee, we thank you for the honor to serve and be involved in this process of selecting a new Superintendent to lead the Adair County Schools. We truly enjoyed our work and wish you the very best in your decision.

Sincerely,
s/David Herbst
