Robert Ellis thinks Maury Lewis tree may be box elder Robert Ellis, of Robert Ellis Woodworking writes: From the photo it looks like it might be a box elder. The red inner part of the tree and the white outer rings of the tree is what I used to suggest my "guess" as to the type of tree you have. If you do a search on the web for box elder it will help you to identify your tree. Larger Box Elders with lots of the red (let's call the red flames) is sought out by woodworkers, especially wood turners for making bowls. If it is Box Elder it is in the Maple family of trees. I believe Box Elders are very susceptible to certain tree diseases. Hope this helps. - Robert EllisComments re photo 44286 Maury Lewis Expert tee advice needed 2012-03-17 20:42:24 | Comments | Printable version
