Dan Osborne: Honorable Mention Minion, AC Leap Year Babies

This worthy is a deacon and a beacon, ever seen in combat with his sword conquering the ever growing grass epidemic.

Robert Osborne writes:
Yesterday, the beautiful Dulcinea de La Mancha rode with me on my quest to answer the question, "have we brought justice to all leap day minions?" Being that she is older now, not even the strong wind gusts could cure her hot flashes.

She shouted "Yes Kemosabee, there is one of Honorable Mention Minion". His name is Dan Osborne, who actually lives in London, but owns the property on Edwin Bryant Road where he built his own castle with 2 small rooms. Every weekend he can been seen in combat with his sword conquering the ever growing grass epidemic. He is the Deacon at his church and a beacon of light to those who are in misery from this evil world. Let us proclaim that Dan Osborne be an honorable mention minion to all Adair County Leap Day babies.

Hey Lone Ranger rides again fighting for truth, justice and the American way of life Thank you Ed Waggener for keeping the torch lit.--Robert Osborne

The Cunningham store at Webbs X-Roads was their Walmart

Storm photo brings back memories of the Cunninghams, the store, and her uncle Dow Cunningham, who would always slip an extra piece of candy in the nickel sack she had bought, her first memories of a test tube at the cream station, and recollections of skim milk. . . and on the spiritual side, the influence of Poplar Grove Church, its people and Sunday School on her life.

Storm sight brings back memories of Russell Co., Damron's Creek

A LONGING FOR HOME: Melissa G. Rexroat Craigmiles lived near Poplar Grove Road. Sight of downed power lines, big tree down on the Cunningham Place brings back memories of her family, and her dad, Oris Rexroat -'He was a darling of a man, she says - and she remembers that the big tree uprooted was likely at least a century old. The image rekindled a dream to own another farm on Damron's Creek Road, the spectacularly scenic byway between the Dunnville Road in Adair County and the North US 127 area of Russell County, KY, to be back among her beloved extended family of Coopers, Rexroats, Tillers, Foleys and Scaleses. 'I really miss Russell Springs so much,' she says.
There's a plea for more photos from the storm. We hope readers will share them. CM's additional photos, this morning, are limited. -EW

By Melissa G Rexroat-Craigmiles

Hello Mr Waggener. I read this column in the Columbia site newspaper on line every day. I cried when I saw this photo. I lived across the road from the house at the crest of the hill as it turns into new Poplar Grove Road.

I lived there in 1979 -1980 with my maternal grandmother Flossie Foley. She lived in the first house off north 127 and Webbs Crossroads.

She died when I was 13 and I lived with her then.

In 1980 I attended Russell County Elementary 7th and 8th grade.

My dad is buried farther out that road on Damrons Creek Road at Mount Calvary Baptist Church.
